I'm looking for some ideas on how to clean a few different things.
1. Shoes
I have a few pairs of sneakers that have at least patches of suede fabric on them and then some have canvas-type stuff too. What's the best way to clean general dirt and some salt left over from winter off of them? Also the soles of some were white once upon a time and I'd like to try and get them back there as much as possible without harming the fabric.
2. Shirts
A few random shirts of mine have developed this weird feeling to them. They feel kind of chalky and gross. I don't really know how to describe it, it reminds me of the feeling I get when I touch velvet or corderoy, which I have a severe aversion to and just sends tingles up my spine and makes my teeth feel weird when I touch them. Now these random shirts that have previously been perfectly fine have taken on this feeling. It's kind of like the build up you can get from deoderant on the underarm part, but all over, and these aren't shirts I've worn recently, they've been hanging up in my closet. They're all some type of knit fabric too. Regular washing them doesn't seem to fix the issue and I am not sure what else to try. I cannot wear them like this at all. This has happened randomly to different shirts of mine over the years and I still have no idea why or how or what to do about it.
3. Sheets
Some of my sheets have developed this build up or something. They're jersey knit and a few years old now, so I know they will never be like new no matter what I do, but I need them to be better than they are now. They feel extra heavy, like there's extra stuff in the fabric weighing them down, and they are darker than they originally were. I suspect it may be like a fabric softener buildup or something. I am thinking of doing a vinegar wash with them, is there anything else I can try?
