Good morning,
hip_domestics!
For the next couple of hours (or until they run out), Amazon is running another Gold Box deal on the
Kitchenaid Pro 6qt. Stand Mixer. The "Pearl Metallic" color is $309 (with free shipping and no sales tax) after the Gold Box deal.
It's not the cheapest price that Amazon has ever had on the 6qt mixers, but it is the lowest price I've seen for one of the metallic paint colors. (Make sure you choose the Pearl Metallic color for the sale price, though, and click "View Gold Box" deal to get the actual sale price.)
(Edit: Looks like my post was stuck in the moderation queue, so the Gold Box deal is long since gone. However, to redeem the Kitchenaid value of the post: I found that you can
download a PDF of the KitchenAid product manual for the stand mixers from Amazon for free. Not only useful if you've misplaced yours, but it's chock full of recipes. :))
Second, if you're a fan of Cook's Illustrated, this weekend I learned that they have a relatively new compilation cookbook out called "The Cook's Illustrated Cookbook: 2,000 Recipes from 20 Years of America's Most Trusted Cooking Magazine." I absolutely love Cook's Illustrated and have several of their cookbooks, but wasn't even aware that this one was out until I saw it at my local CostCo for $22. It's a huge, hefty cookbook with concise versions of Cook's Illustrated's "why this works" introductions before each recipe.
So, if you have a CostCo near you, you may want to check it out. My local store also had America's Best Healthy Recipe and America's Family Cookbook for around $20 as well. (Otherwise, the book is available on
Amazon, too, and depending on your sales tax, may be cheaper at Amazon.) Personally, I think any of the Cook's Illustrated cookbooks make wonderful wedding and housewarming gifts, too. :)
