I would try pouring a large amount of really hot water down the drain a few times then trying the vinegar and baking soda again. I've seen people recommend boiling water, but if you don't know what kind of pipes you have it may be an issue. Even if the build up was cleaned out there will be some residue left and the hot water should soften it enough to get it to flush out. It may take a few treatments.

oh right. i forgot that this was one of the things i read to help clear the build up too, or to soften it.. im going to give this a shot now.
i know the pipes are plastic.. or pvc or whatever it is they use ie, not copper or metal.. so i dont want to use vinegar too often.. but i will try this again and see how it goes
thanks :D

This.
I work for an hvac/plumbing company and we tell people to do this constantly.
Also, when the plumber cleared your drain, a chemical may have been used (some use them, some don't), and at least in the case of my company, the residue stinks and will stick around for a week or so unless you rinse with near-boiling water. And of course the baking soda and vinegar never hurts.

awesome. i did the near boiling water a few times and then baking soda/vinegar. now my bathroom just smells like vinegar, but im waiting to see what smell sticks around when thats all cleared through.

its been more than a week, how much longer do you expect that i will endure the stink if it is residue related? and if its not residue related might there be another issue?

I would say if the stink doesn't leave in the next day or so, to give the plumber a call back. There could be another issue that wasn't addressed when they were out last.
