Sadly, no, I'm not a troll and that's a totally serious question.
This week's veggies from our winter CSA share have all smelled (and, I suppose, tasted) a little, ahem, *barnyardy*. They smell fine out of the fridge, and of course we wash them, but as soon as they hit the pan that very unfortunate smell comes forth. It's not TOO overpowering, but it's unmistakably there. So far it's only been greens - spinach, kale, and mizuni.
I know we have plenty of veggie gardeners in the community - has anyone had this happen before? I'm assuming it's a fertilizer thing. I'd ask our farmers, but I'm still figuring out a tactful way to do so! They've been so good to us & I don't want to appear ungrateful, or for them to feel badly. Are we risking illness by eating these veggies? Thank you!
