I am still using a Panasonic that my husband and I bought back in 1979!! It's older than my two kids (who are grown now). I don't remember what we paid for it though. Sorry I can't be more help.

My mom had a microwave from 23 years ago until she replaced it. She hates the one she has now.

My parents are the same way. They bought a microwave a gazillion years ago from an actual microwave store and they replaced it about 5 years ago? They've gone through two since then because appliances aren't really built to last like they used to be.

We're super happy with the one we have, which was one of Consumer Reports "recommended" models. It's a Kenmore, this one, here and it's $140.

Wow, what the EFF. It's not one of the ones with convection? Those are legitimately much more expensive.

Too bad you don't live near me, I'm selling mine as we're moving to a place with a built-in.

I've felt happier and healthier since I got rid of that thing. :-) You might want to look up the things it does to your food. I now use a toaster oven and to heat up frozen soups (which I froze ahead of time in ziploc bags) I just toss them in a pot of boiling water. :-)

thanks! I work long hours (830a to 7p) and by the time I get home I could eat the walls! Luckily I cook on the weekends and then zap my food while I walk the dogs, or I'd probably start chewing my hand off. I personally hate our toaster oven, but that's because it annoys me, not b/c of anything I've read about its superiority. Now I am curious as to the differences between the two!

Well, there have been several studies that state that microwaving your food changes the molecular structure and the nutrition contained in that food.

Otherwise, I'd love using the microwave! I used to love it, but I do notice that since I stopped microwaving, I feel better and more healthy... :-)
