Kerosene Heaters?

Oct 20, 2010 08:53

Hi all,
We live in ginormous old farm house that has oil heat as it's main source of heating (and a beautiful wood stove that we cannot use because the vents are completely blocked off...grr) Last winter we spent $2000 in three months on oil to heat the house, in addition to using small space heaters and running up the electric bill. A friend suggested a kerosene heater for the lower level but I'm not sure I am entirely sold on the idea. Does anyone use one for supplemental heat? Pros/Cons? Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you :)

ETA:
We put plastic up on all of the windows, draft blockers on the doors etc etc.
