Any advice experience with bed bugs?

I think we have bed bugs. My husband got big patches of bites all over a few weeks ago and went to the Dr. who told him it was an allergic reaction. Since then I have gotten a few as well (although mine are nearly as big as his and I don't have as many). We did spring cleaning and vacuumed everything (couch, matress, under everything, in every corner) washed all our sheets, mattress pad, matress covers, pillow covers...anything we could think of). We are both still getting bit. We rent, so we will be contacting our landlord ASAP, but they are awful about getting back to us. Anything we can do in the meantime? We have concluded thats its on one specific sofa in our living room, we even found a tiny orange bug on it the other day.

I'm so grossed out to even tell anyone about this....blech!
