Butter stain on jeans

Dec 09, 2006 11:16

I got butter on my dark blue jeans. The cat licked most of it off.

I then forgot about it and washed the jeans (I have a twin tub and scrimp on water and detergent). I put the jeans on today and noticed the mark left by the butter stain.

Any suggestions on how to remove the stain?

anytime I get oil or butter on my clothes even if Ive already washed and dried them I rub them with some liquid dawn dish soap and it gets the oil right out

(1) saturate the spot with WD-40. Let sit for about 15 minutes.
(2) Rub in Dawn or any other good degreaser.
(3) toss into washer and wash as you normally would.
You might want to run it around twice if the WD-40 smell lingers a bit.

I must tell you, yours is the only animated lj userpic I have ever seen and liked. It's wonderful!

dab some dish detergent on the stain and wash it. Works like a charm.

Oxyclean should take it out.

I know a bunch of tricks have already been suggested, but the only thing I've ever tried that worked for an oil stain was baking soda. Just lay it out, sprinkle a generous amount on the spot, and let it sit for a while before you try washing again. Apparently the soda soaks the oil up from the cloth. I think someone actually suggested that to me here a year or so ago.
