Did you get a digital camera for Christmas and are still learning how to use it? Well here is a way to get some practice and help in dealing with insurance.

One of the problems with collecting insurance is having the documentation to prove what you bought. One way to  prove this is to take pictures.

Now ask your agent what kind of pics to take but here are some guidelines

Jewelry, art, electronics, furniture, computer extras like scanner printer ipod, appliances, even expensive clothes (if you need a pricy wardrobe or black tie things for work include them.)

If you have hobbies don’t forget that, things like fabric, looms, sports gear, books, cds, beads, sports cards, DVD, musical instruments, collections, tools, Pet supplies like expensive reptile cages, fish tanks, cat perches. fancy cooking gear

Basically if you have anything more than an average person would have document it.

Put the pictures on a cd or thumb drive and either put it in a safe deposit box or give to a friend.

Keep it up dated and at the very least send emails of photos of new things.

It’s a good way to learn all about your camera and to cover yourself if there is an emergency. I allso scan the reciptes of big ticket items and mail it to my yahoo acount for records.
