Parking Lot in the Fog
I'll start with the most recent and work my way back. This was taken a little over a month ago after going to applebees. We were going out to the car on this foggy night when one of my friends mentioned how spooky the parking lot looked so I decided to keep them there a bit longer and take some night shots of it.
Contemplating
and
Frozen Droplets
These shots are both from Passion Puddle on Rutgers University's Cook Campus. It was october and I had just gotten back to my car from class and found that my tire was flat, I then decided that I needed some air and took some photos around this serene little pond. I love the way water works with the camera so you can see how I love to play with that fountain. Especially Frozen Droplets because you can see the powerful water jet trying to break free from the photograph.
Cracked Road
and
Old, Decaying Road
Both of these shots are from the abandoned NJ State Village of Epileptics, now known as Skillman Village in Montgomery Township, NJ. It used to be an entire village/hospital separated from the world to house epileptics, who were seen at the time as having a mental disability. The last remnants of the institution were closed in the 90s and since then it has sat abandoned. Recently, many of the buildings were condemned and demolished but several still stand and an elementary school was built on the site, but still many decaying roads traverse the area, which were once lined with buildings but now connect the few that still remain.
Dragon Head
This was taken at a Scandinavian Festival which is held in Budd Lake, NJ. I went there with Neal and Lauren and we had quite a good time, cool food, interesting stuff, and even a wife carrying contest, which
Neal and Lauren participated in (I guess engaged counts?). This is a photo of the bow of a replica of a Viking Longboat named the Norseman. It was quite impressive, it apparently actually sails, but was on a trailer here since the town was landlocked.
Twisted Roots
and
Over the Bridge
These are both from the summer when a bunch of my friends and I went on a small hike in the Delaware Water Gap. The first shot is of the roots of a tree that had fallen near the path. The light just seemed perfect to highlight the twisted roots. The second is of hikers crossing an almost dried up stream under the towering trees. There was a drought going on at the time so the stream was pretty pathetic. During the spring there was a cool waterfall just behind me in this photo, but as the stream was dried up, it was pretty disappointing.
Bridge Over the Susquehanna
and
Along the Susquehanna
These were both from last summer which I spent in Lock Haven, PA working in Millbrook Playhouse. The apartment we had was across the street from the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. We couldn't actually see it since the town had built a levee between the street and the river to keep the town from flooding. One day we were coming back from a long night of work and Jon (another carpenter at Millbrook) and I noticed this beautiful sunrise, we didn't get there in time to catch the sunrise, but we did get some nice shots along the river. The first is under a bridge and the other is of some plants along the river. This area was quite beautiful, I wish I had more time to enjoy it while I was there.
Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas Everyone!
