this post, and brought joy to my life ^_^ While I agree that fan fiction doesn't always get the best press, this article in Time does a very good job articulating the essence of the art itself. I feel validated. I also squeed like the total fangirl that I am to see Naomi Novik's quote, a mention of AO3, and all the slash references.
I also learned something new. Somehow I missed Rule No. 34. God, how could I miss it? I read it like every day??! I loved the following excerpts from the article:
"(One of the axioms of Internet culture is known as Rule No. 34: "If it exists, there is porn of it.") A lot of alien plants turn out to produce pollen with powerful aphrodisiac effects. You'd be amazed.'
