SGA: why it rules the world and how H50 is dipping its foot in the crack pool ^__^

So, I was supposed to start working on taxes. Then, while browsing through hawaii5_0slash , I saw an image of Steve as a magical unicorn. The old days of SGA in all its cracktastic and most creative glory came rushing at me like a freight train. Someone mentioned they didn’t remember the thing with the fic and the unicorn. @.@ I had to change that!

I found myself not only finding the link for the infamous SGA unicorn fic, but also looking for all those Penguin!Fics and fics about Planets-With-Giant-Sharks that I loved so dearly in my early Stargate Atlantis years.

I’ve been with SGA from the very beginning. I remember the tentative and break-neck stumble from Mailing Lists to Livejournal. Wraithbait, Flashfic, how I love(d) thee. HTML, we had such a love/hate relationship.

Fanlore pretty much sums up why SGA is and always will be one of my favorite fandoms and why it holds such a special place in my heart:

“SGA fandom has been exceptionally creative in its fanfiction (some might say prone to writing crack). Stories range from epics with highly realistic and detailed worldbuilding to fairly off-the-wall AUs, including stories where the primary characters are recast as members of a symphony, a NASCAR race team, penguins, and Girl Scout cookies. In one notable story, But Where Would They Live? by thingswithwings, Rodney McKay is a unicorn, John Sheppard is a rainbow, Teyla is a dolphin, and Ronon is a warm summer breeze.”

OT4, I miss you desperately. And while Steve, Danny, Kono, and Chin are not quite John, Rodney, Teyla, and Ronon, they are very, very close. If we're already seeing a trend toward AU's and creative crack, I'd say that H50 is on the right path! Here’s to SGA & Hawaii 5-0!

crack, squee, nostalgia, fandom, the old days, recs, fic, hawaii 5-0, what's a ml?, sga
