Hi, everybody. It has been quite a while since I last posted, I noticed that my most recent posts are all about music. So, for a fresh change before my next music rotation, I've decided to post a photo galore of most of my cosmetics collection(which is actually not that big).
Therefore, I bring you "Hino's Cosmetic Darlings Collection"! (This doesn't include all my cosmetics, skincare and nail polishes aren't included.)
I think about nearly 98% of all my cosmetics comprise of Japanese brands like Shiseido, Kanebo and etc. Well, you can really call me an avid Japanese cosmetics collector, and the sad thing is that almost always they don't come in cheap...(that's why I'm almost always broke!) T___T
Lipsticks/glosses:
The above are my Anna Sui lipglosses which I bought last year, I think they retail for $30 respectively. The design is quite unique as usual with Anna Sui products, the glosses are scented with a rose soap kind of fragrance(not a bad smell at all but I tend to get tired of it after a while). The below colour is my favourite one out of the two, it has a lot more glitter bits than the upper one and the colour payoff is good.
This is a pic of one my favourite lipglosses by Shiseido Maquillage, this baby costed me a bomb though. You are supposed to twist the bottom part and the gloss will come out through several small holes located at the transparent tip. The colour may look quite dark form the outside, but you can layer on the colour gradually to get the intensity that you want. I really think the colour is unique and super gorgeous with glitter and shimmer bits of various sizes, sadly this series(Diamond Tear Gloss) had been replaced by another series(Neo Climax Rouge) and is now no longer available.
This is from Shiseido Maquillage's Spring 2007 collection, I really like the packaging and the colour as well. Maquillage always makes great lip products with fantastic textures and colour, which always come along with horrendous price tags. (I paid a whooping $48 for this...>_<) But this lippie gives off a sheer, lovely rose pink colour which brightens up my face instantly.
Seriously, I didn't know why I bought this Chanel lipstick for, out of impulse probably. The lipstick packaging design is one of its kind though, you push the golden bottom of the lipstick and it will pop out instantly. Plus, there's 'Chanel' engraved on the body if you look closely. But I really dislike the colour, cause it's not the colour which I want. (I have to blame this on the misleading counter spotlights which always gives off false illusions about colours) I think the smell sucks too by the way.
These two products are both from Kanebo's T'estimo, which has already been discontinued last year end and replaced by a new side brand. (I love their products though...T_T) The lipstick is a complementary gift which I received after signing up for some T'estimo make-over event, not really one of my favs though. The lipgloss is from the last year's Spring collection, I really like it cause it's unfragranced, gives a super glossy finish with crystal-like pearls.
This is another of my favourite lipstick, and my first and only one from Kanebo's Lunasol. I really like Lunasol products' packaging cause they always come in those bronze mirror like casings which gives them a really classy feel. This lipstick is of very good quality as usually expected of a Japanese high-end cosmetics brand, it's unfragranced and gives off a beautiful sheer coverage with light shimmers. This nude peach-pink colour is especially good when I pair it with slightly heavy eye make-up, cause it balances out the heaviness with it's lightness.
Eye shadows/ mascaras:
Just bought this eyeshadow palette last week for around $24.5, Kate is a low-end brand under Kanebo with cheapo packaging but superb quality products. This series comprises of two other types of colour variations, but since I don't possess any purple coloured eyeshadow palette and the price is much more affordable compared to Maquillage and Lunasol, I thought it would be a good buy. This palette consists of four powder shadows and one glitter cream, you can create beautiful eye shadow gradations with it, it's great for smokey eyes too.
This is my first eye shadow palette from a Japanese cosmetics brand, I think it's in the Summer 2006 collection of T'estimo. It's only after using this did I fall in love with T'estimo, the colours are all very light pastel-ish and extremely shimmery. It's good for creating a bright-eyed and mistake proof look, on days when you are too lazy to experiement with colours.
Both palettes are from Shiseido Maquillage, another of my favourite brand. The left green palette is my first eye shaow palette from the brand while the latter was from its Spring 2007 collection. One thing I absolutely disliked about the palettes are that Shiseido never seems to get the cream eye liners right, they are flakey, takes millions of applications to show up on my lids, and fades easily. I also think that the glitter cream on the bottom right of the green palette is really rubbish, the 'cream' is so hard that I praticallly had to dig my fingers into it in order to get a tweeny bit of glitter out. However, aside from the above mentioned, the eye shadows and sponge/brush applicators are of pretty good quality.
I only just bought this eye shadow colour a couple of weeks ago, it's my first product from Paul & Joe. I think the paper packaging is really nice as it gives off a french bourdoir kind of feeling, the shadow is dual toned and I can use it either way.
This is my second and last eye shadow palette from T'estimo, in my opinion, Kanebo makes much better eye shadow palettes than Shiseido. The cream liner here, unlike the one in Maquillage's palette, gives a smooth and intense dark line which neither smudges nor fades. The colour combination itself just screams glamour and sex appeal, good for creating a slighly more mature look.
This one has got to be my current No. 1 favourite eye shadow item(Lunasol's Skin Modelling Eyes in Beige Orange), and it's also the most expensive single cosmetic item I've got so far(got it for...$77...>_<) What more can I say?The quality of the textures of the shadows are superb, it applies on super duper smoothly, the colours are intense without ever fading on my oily eyelids. They are unfragranced with finely milled shimmer(no chunky disco ball glitters here) and creates a beautiful gradation which stays put throughout the day. I have to say this is THE QUEEN of all eye shadow palettes, I will definetely go back for more once I have enough $$ that is...
The top product is called Diamond Tear Liner from Maquillage, I always use the bluish-silvery-whitish glittery liner at the inner corners of my eyes to help make them look larger. The bottom one is a blue-green cream shadow from Ettusais, it is a very pretty colour with tiny golden flecks in it.
Above are the mascaras that I'm currently using, the right hand tube with the golden body is Majolica Majorca, which I asked a friend to bring back for me from her Tokyo trip. I really like it as it gives my lashes a combed, curled and jet-black glossy effect. I like the Maquillage one too as it has two kinds of mascara comb tips, one for the upper lashes and a smaller one for the lower eye lashes, it doesn't clump easily too. The Kate one isn't that good as it doesn't give any curling effect and the brush is quite big, so I just use it as an overall volume booster after applying the above two.
Blushers/Highlighters:
This is Kanebo Lavshuca's cheek colour, I asked my mother to bring it back for me when she went to Tokyo. It is also my favourite blush as you either mix the colours together or use them seperately. The above two lightest colours are for highlighting the area below the eye and the below ones are for the cheek area. It gives a very pretty light pale pink blush and good when paired with smokey eyes.
I bought the Bobbi Brown cream blush at Changi Airport and it has seldomly been touched since then. ^_^;; The Ettusais blush on the right comes with a cute little puff attached to the bottom of the pot which can be detached for washing.
This is a T'estimo face highlighter and also brought back by my mother from her Tokyo trip, I had only used it once since then...such a waste, sigh.
Foundation/Concealer:
Bought this for $70 last year, one of my first Lunasol purchases. It has a funny name called 'Intellectual Water-in-liquid foundation', I don't know what's so 'intellectual' about a stupid foundation though. Anyway, the foundation is very moisturising and smooth on the skin, gives a medium and rather natural coverage. Also, it doesn't oxidise much after a day of wearing but the sad thing is that it doesn't have oil controlling properties so my face shines like a mirror soon after application.
Bought this after I saw many recommendations for it on some websites, the quality is quite worth the hefty price tag though. (What do I expect? It's Yves Saint Laurent after all...) The illuminator can be use both as a concealer and highlighter, the result is very natural but with an illuminated look. No uneven and mask like patches here!
Miscellaneous:
These are my two essentials when it comes to eye make-up, the above is a battery operated self-heat eye lash permer which mum brought from Japan and the below is Maquillage's eye lash curler. I usually use the eye lash curler first, then swipe on the mascaras, then use the eye lash permer and finally swipe on another coat of mascara. In this way, my lashes will stay curled and beautifully defined all day long without smudging or sagging.
I have to say this is more or less an impulse buy, cause I'm sort of curious as to how to achieve lush, thick lashes with falsies. I think I only used them once, and never bothered afterwards cause they are so troublesome due to the planting of the individual lashes painstakingly along the lashline. Plus, they are a pain in the ass to remove...>_< Though the effects can be very significant and a great enhancement to your eyes if done well.
Well, that's all(for now) I guess. A close friend of mine once asked me, "How the hell are you going to finish all these stuffs??!" Seriously, I still don't know the answer to that...especially I have only one face. Though I had tried to curb my 'cosmetic purchasing cravings' before, I don't think it works anyway. Well, just hope they don't expire too fast...^_^;;
