The emotion it was electric - Houston DAY ·3

Feb 05, 2009 22:13

Ok so Monday... Monday I woke up around 7 or 8 (I don't remember), got ready, waited for my mom and then went to Galeria to do some shopping. Such a pretty mall I must say! I went back to my hotel around 12, went to pick up some food for mom, got ready and left again around 130. Destination: Downtown

I told the taxi driver to leave me at The Houston Center, and on our way we passed by the venue and I saw the buses outside and my heart jumped i swear! When we were getting closer the driver told me there were two buildings with that name so I had to figure out which one it was. I have a video of this but will post it tomorrow along with another one - or not idk

I eventually found my friend Grecia and her brother and we went to eat something. Then we walked around downtown like the bunch of tourists we were taking photos and so on. We got to the venue and sat on line. Maybe like 10 people in front of us. Not bad at all. I went to the box office to try and find out about the fast lane whatever shit the livenation site had mentioned for people purchasing tickets there, but they couldn't tell me anything, and I would eventually find out it was a bunch of BS. Whatever.

So somehow I managed to hurt my back. Don't know how! But I wanted to walk, I was cold and bored. So my friend's brother wanted some coffee and Grecia and I ventured to find a Starbucks. It took us a long time to find one but we eventually did. We got our stuff and on our way back I told her that I wanted to walk around the back of the venue in my stalker motives, she agreed, reluctanly.

SO there was a park there called Tranquility Park (LOL) and I saw two guys in a bench. I knew one of them was Mark and the other one looked like Bflow (black jeans, funny shoes) but it wasn't. So after a bit of hesitation we went there to greet Mark. I thought this was really hilarious cause I had told everyone I wasn't really going to try to meet him because he scares me SO MUCH. But I said screw that. It was a bit awkward but he was nice enough, and we took a pic.

LOL i look so scared

I was too scared to ask him to sign my vinyl. Whatever...

We went back to the line and we told my friend's brother about meeting Mark, but he didn't believe me until I showed him the pic! ha! Some other people heard the story there. So we waited some more, the waiting included an annoying radio station parked up there and a quick visit to the Hard Rock Cafe to go to the bathroom. First and only time I've been in a HRC! haha

I hid my camera so the security people checking my bag wouldn't take it away, but then they say cameras were ok. The line began moving and they checked me.. TWICE. FUCKERS!! That made me stay behind so I couldn't get front row. But I got second row - CENTER. I still don't know how I didn't cry in that very moment. I had the best view ever O M G. So excited!

Theeeen some kids tried to get in front of us! BASTARDS! This other mexican girl who had also made the trip swore at them and scared them off haha. The whole thing was really annoying but I was not going to let anyone ruin this for me. Not even M83! I mean, their music is good, ok. I liked the second song they played. But everything sounded the same! As people go for The Killers, most of us hadn't heard their music (I tried to check them out before leaving, but I never had the time) and everything sounded the same. I also didn't like how they seemed to be sampling stuff, I mean they had pre-recorded shit. I don't like that.. I know sometimes is necessary and just a bit is ok, but i think it was too much with them. They were just OK. Not that good, not that bad.

SO NOW. The most exciting moment! Waiting for The Killers! Knowing the show is just minutes away. That's just such an amazing feeling! Just before it started a fight broke out in the crowd, so that was a bit scary/distracting. But then the lights went off, the screens started a countdown and I could feel my heart racing. There they were, finally! Spaceman started and it was such a burst of energy! I was so impressed even then! Looking at the stage, the band, the lights, Brandon parading up and down the stage. AMAZING. I love the song so much, even if it's stupid.. but I feel the lyrics sound like something I'd say from my life lately. I'm weird, yes I know.

I was just getting my breath back and Losing Touch began. HOLY SHIT. That sounded so massive live! I don't think you really get that across on the album.  (although it disrupted the energy brought by Spaceman). Thdoen it was STM. This was my opportunity to rest a bit cause I've never been too keen on the song, but it was still a lot of fun to watch them perform... and yeah I eventually ended up dancing and singing! Then it was SLYMI which made me think there was a lot of Hot Fuss going on and not enough Sam's Town! It was amazing of course.

THEN - O M F G. Brandon said this is a new song. And This is your life began. O M G!!!! You have no idea how badly I wanted to hear this song live. I almost didn't sing. I mostly just stared at Brandon singing with the biggest smile on my face. At the end I got a bit emotional, but not too much. Then an intro began and at first I thought it was Read My Mind so I shouted veeeery loudly. People were cheering and Brandon was smiling so much it was SO cute. Instead of RMM we got JOYRIDE. JESUS! What a song!  And bubbles!! It was really amazing! One of my favourites from D&A, it was just a lot of fun.

HOWEVER. Right after that one I can't stay began... TEARS. I didn't cry much but I was seriously moved by it! Plus, you could see in Brandon's face how happy he felt singing it. Like he was proud. I loved how Dave was playing the guitar also; I just hadn't pictured how it'd be. So I ended up tearing up a bit. After that it was Bling, which I now love much more than back in 2006. I've been struggling a bit lately and this song always makes me feel better, gives me a little push, so I wouldn't say it was emotional, but it felt so right.

THEN HOLY CRAP!!! IT WAS SHADOWPLAY!!! I remember saying last tour that I was so sad they started playing that after I saw them, because it seemed like such a good song live. AND IT DAMN IS! I was so happy to get that one, so much I can't explain. I fucking love the ooh ooh ooohs so much. When it was over I noticed Brandon was getting a bass so I knew FRU was next. Of course I got my camera ready because I love Bflow playing bass. Yes I'm weird. Besides I really like that song. I was jumping up and down like mad!

And then. I wasn't sure what was happening. I mean, I realised something was happening. It wasn't normal. And so Brandon said something about Florida, something about someone's wife, something about getting the girl from M83 on stage. So I freaked out and started "omg what are they singing? what are they singing?!?!?!?!". And then he said it. IT WAS RUBY DONT TAKE YOUR LOVE TO TOWN OMFG JEEEEEEZ!!!! I can't tell you how excited I was! I couldn't believe my eyes!! I was like omg they never do this kind of shit. I felt so blessed. I tried to take some video but the security guy made me stop. Plus my videos never sound good. ANYWAYS. idc if they did it in other shows, I felt so happy because it's not something regular.. I mean it's not their greatest hit or whatever. I still think it was pretty special and I'm really happy about it :')

Oooooh but then. After that. RUN NEON TIGEEER - *freaks out*. That was such an epic song! I do confess it took me a bit to get into it when the album came out, but once I did.. I love it so much omg. And then on the "come on girls and boys, everyone make some noise" part, Brandon came to where we were and just went NUTS reached out for the crowd and I got to touch his hand.. OMG it was such an epic moment  Epic song. Pure fierceness tiger!

Then Human came. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the song. I remember how bad I listened to it when it came out.. but I guess it got kinda old and I just got into Joyride more than it hahaha BUT having it live changed everything. It sounded massive and the screens were amazing.

However.. I couldn't care about that too long because right after Sam's Town began. It was the acoustic version, but it was more of an upgraded acoustic version. It was too much for me to handle and the real CRYFEST began. The moment Brandon started singing I was already crying my heart out. I love the song so much, I don't care about the americana thing or whatever. It feels so close to home, it always has and it always be like that. Plus the "I see London, I see Sam's Town" line reminded me of flying about both London and Vegas that I just couldn't help myself.

It was about to get worse cause they played Read My Mind right after it. WERE THEY TRYING TO KILL ME OR WHAT? I didn't cry as much as I did with Sam's Town, but RMM is my favourite song ever ever ever and it's just one of those songs that helps me to feel better, that inspires me beyond anything I could've imagined. So I cried again, but i felt so happy, I really have no words. I don't mind if you don't mind, cause I don't shine if you don't shine. Before you jump, tell me what you find, when you read my mind..

*breathes*

By this moment I was starting to feel the show had been too long. Not that I was complaining! But I was thinking "wow they just keep playing! " I love it when shows feel like that. Right up came Mr Brightside, which will never be my cup of tea and I was probably still dying from the ST / RMM combo. Of course they had to finish the first part with ATTTID. EPICNESS Plus I loved how the screen said HOLD ON after they left the stage.

So they were obviously were going to come back, but to play what? I was nervous, and still a bit hopeful for Dustland (didn't happen tho). Yet they came back with BONES. That was such an amazing moment! I love that song so much and we waved our flag when Brandon was at the front and I think he saw it. I mean, he must've it's a big flag :P THEN!! It was time for The World We Live In. I SERIOUSLY WASNT EXPECTING THAT. Just the moment I heard Brandon's voice I went NUTS! epic.. epic stuff.

They would finish it up with Jenny and WYWY. I really like Jenny, specially when Brandon says "she kicked and scream while I held her throat" but I think it was overshadowed by the amazingness of WYWY. It's one of my favourite songs and it's so good live! I kinda missed having it after enterlude but it was reaaally good! Great way to end the show with the sparks.

You can see the flag up there :')

So the show ended and instead of feeling like I was going to cry, I was too hyped! Too happy/excited/amazed/impressed. IT WAS SO AMAZING! We went out and I went to the merch stand to get a tshirt (the one with the tourdates was too big so I had to settle with the Human shirt). My friends and I talked of what to do and they decided to leave with these two girls we had met there to find something to drink, while I decided HELL NO! I am here, I came all this way, I'm not going anywhere! So I went to stand near the buses.

My friend Simona and her husband joined me a bit later (the live in Houston) and we waited. The first one to come out was Mark, but since I already had my pic with him I just got him to sign my D&A poster. We waited and not long after that Brandon came out. Before I realised he was standing almost in front of me. JEEEZ! There were a lot of people around him so I decided to let it clear out before getting close. One girl asked for my sharpie and Brandon ended up signing everything with it :')

So while he as being mobbed I went to the other side because Ronnie was there with like 7 people! So I went there and oddly I could talk to him so easily! I asked if he could sign my poster but that I didn't have a pen cause Brandon had it, so he asked people and we got a regular pen but he said "you ain't going to see with this" so then someone gave us a sharpie! yaay! Then picture :D

omg ronnie ily!

I told him how good the show was and I asked why no Dustland! haa! He said they were still trying to get the setlist right, which I think it's obvious if you see how much they've been changing it around. This other girl asked why no Sweet Talk, and he said Brandon was recovering from a cold, so it was kinda difficult to sing that. Theen we told him we were from Mexico traveling to see the show (turns out there was quite a few of us!) and we was impressed :') Then he said they'd been talking about recording Human or Spaceman in spanish LMAO! Part of me thinks it was just bluffing, but that'd be hilarious. I also told him how much I like his hair haha but was sad to hear he plans on getting a haircut soon! It was going great but I remembered I couldn't let Bflow leave! So I went back and told him "that's my pen". He was going to give it back but I had to tell him "nooo you haven't signed anything for me yet". He put on the cutest smile and signed the poster. Then I asked for a pic but since there was no one to take it I asked one of their guys! hahaha We had our pic. I mean. Look at that! I finally have my pic with Brandon Flowers! GO FIGURE!!!!

Look at him so adorable omg!!

So he waved goodbye and took a bow (which was way too cute) and I went back to Ronnie. At some pointed he talked about some covers they were doing, including Fleet Foxes. He said there was a lot of stuff they had to leave out from the album because "it was too out there". "Even more?" I said, and he laughed <3 "Yeah, even more!". Then someone came to tell Ronnie they had to leave, so he said goodbye and told us "have a safe trip!" (BLESS HIM)

I wanted to wait for Dave but I got the second phone call from my friends telling me they were lost and needed help so I went to find them (first call while I was waiting for Brandon). So sadly, no Dave. Hopefully next time!

I'm sorry for the longest entry in LJ history but I really had the time of my life and I love this band 3974593854649 times more than I did before! I didn't think it was possible! Ronnie is the best guy eeeever ilh so much! Brandon is even more amazing than I thought and I'm so glad he was nice enough to sign stuff and take pics with everyone. He really seemed like he appreciated fans, you know? It's just something you can see in the way he talks/moves.
Bottom line: I LOVED THE SHOW! I LOVE THE KILLERS. CANT WAIT FOR NEXT TIME. AND IT BETTER NOT TAKE ME ANOTHER 2 YEARS! BEST SHOW EVER. BEST DAY EVER!!

Thank you all!
