We lost, and we lost baaaad. Florida likes to play the “us against the world” card, but one look at the national opinion polls and talking heads on ESPN showed that it was really UCLA that the world wasn’t giving a chance. And rightfully so. The offense played like Sanjaya looks, and the defense never learned its lesson from last year.

I hate to be technical on here for the non-sports fans, but damn those Howland double-teams. They failed twice in two years, in the two games that mattered the most. Let that raven simone beating his chest and whoreford prove that they can score three contested 2-pointers as easily as the white boy scores two open 3-pointers-which seemed pretty easy for hump-free.

One glimmer of hope was Josh Shipp, who, in this every journal, I predicted to make the difference between last year and now.. 18 points. 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 steals. If only the rest of the team played with half as much heart . . . .

Don’t get me wrong. I’m still proud to be a Bruin. I’m irritated by the LA Times for rattling off about how championship banners are the only thing that matters in Westwood, that Final Four runs mean nothing. But if you ask this student, who arrived here in the two years big bad UCLA didn’t make the tournament, the two years big bad UCLA had a losing record, to be in the Final Four so soon has been a dream.

So thanks Bruins, and thanks Arron Afflalo. Please consider another year. Please don’t let your legacy at UCLA end on such a sour note. Next year can only get better, and so can your draft position if you stay. Gonna cut this off short now so I can watch the championship game-and after the confetti drops down and the trophy’s held high, picture what Kevin Love and company will look like cutting down the nets next year.
