... Is darting into the Grenville shop at the British Museum ten minutes before it closes, and securing a late Christmas gift for my sister and some Italian-made leather-bound journals for myself.
What beautiful books, especially the Pompeian one! Mme Malkhos wold never let me buy anything like that, unless, oddly enough, we were on vacation, she she would let me spend money like water.
I thought you might like that one in particular. :) If you like, I would be happy to send you one as a gift. I drop by the British Museum quite regularly anyway.
Not quite 'never', I hope. :) Perhaps you might find you could, if it will be affording me a little pleasure, too. :)
If you do change your mind, the offer remains. It is not so terribly generous, really. The books are on sale at half price. They may well disappear before too long. :D
These are not usually there either; I think it is a seasonal thing. But I think you could find similarly attractive notebooks in bookshops and good stationers, perhaps? I forget the name of the company who makes them (not Moleskine, but similar in size), in paperbound hardbacks with designs like old manuscripts and such.

As for buying me one, thank you for the offer, but I could never accept such a generous gift.
