One Million Giraffes

Dec 11, 2009 04:00

Here's a delightful venture in which you can partake. This website is attempting to collect one million giraffes by 2011. I urge you all to contribute as many of your own giraffes as you can. As you see, 'aesthetic merit' is entirely immaterial here, it is all in good fun; and you can create your giraffes in any manner you wish (there are some very creative and wonderfully hilarious examples), except on a computer. I particularly enjoyed reading the rules: 'People spend too much time in front of their TVs and computers. It's time to create something with your hands! Something you can feel, touch and hold! I don't care how you make you giraffe(s) as long as it's not on a computer. Try being old-fashioned for once, it actually is a lot of fun.'

I've only submitted one giraffe so far, and it's a sketch I made from life in London Zoo from about seven years ago (I can hardly believe it's been as long as that)

Don't forget to spread the word!
