As the plane touched down in L.A., July was a little saddened to be back home. She walked though the terminal and found Savannah waiting with a smile on her face.

“So, I want every detail.” July smiled,

“You don’t know how much I wanted to miss that plane and stay longer.”

“I would have killed you. I’ve been so lonely,” Savannah laughed. They walked out of the airport and drove back to July’s apartment. “I will tell you this, time has been nothing but good to that boy. He looks better now than he did when we were younger,” July laughed.

“So you weren’t disappointed any,” Savannah smiled.

“Hell no. He’s so sweet. I don’t know why I don’t leave Landon and pack my shit to move to Finland.” July sighed and flopped on the bed.

“Because Lee and I need you here,” Savannah smiled.

“What do you want to do for Christmas,” July asked. “Bam, Ville and Jonna are going to West Chester.”

“Oh, why hell, let’s go too.”

“Oh I forgot to call Ville when we landed.” July pulled out her phone and dialed his number.

“Put it on speaker phone,” Savannah laughed. The girls sat on the bed listening to the phone ring.

“Hello sweetheart,” Ville answered.

“Hey, I got back home safely. Just calling to let you know.”

“Ok, I was getting worried. When will I see you again?”

Savannah smiled up at July who was already smiling.

“Um well I’m debating about Christmas at the moment. I don’t know if I’ll go or not.”

“I think you should.” There was a smile in his voice.

“Not sure Jonna would like that. I don’t think I made a good impression,” she laughed.

“We’ll see how Christmas goes with her, but she’s running out of chances to make things right.” July didn’t ask what that comment was about, but since he didn’t go on; she didn’t ask.

“I’ll have to see how work is going and if I can get off.”

“Ok well just let me know. It’s getting late so I’m going to bed darling. I will talk to you tomorrow.”

“Ok, talk to you later.”

“Sleep good, love.”

“Good night.” They hung up the phone and giggled.

“You’re going to marry him,” Savannah smiled.

“Yeah right,” July blushed.

Later on that night while she was laying in bed, she began thinking about Landon and why she was with him; she couldn’t come up with an answer. She picked up her phone and called him.

“Hello,” He answered.

“Hey. I figured you’d call and see if my plane landed ok.”

“Well I didn’t get a phone call saying it didn’t, so I figured you were ok.”

“Wow. You weren’t worried? That’s real great.”

“I’m sorry. How was your stay?”

“Are you sure you’re not too busy with your schedule to listen?”

“No…why?”

“Nothing. It was great. I hung out with Ville the whole time.”

“Oh really? That’s cool.” A little irritated he didn’t get mad she went on.

“Yeah we went out to eat, and he took me to a party.”

“That’s nice.”

“Did I tell you we went to high school together?” There was a pause and a change in his voice.

“No, you didn’t. Um, well, I’m glad you had a good time.”

“Yeah I want to go back to Finland soon.”

“Oh, ok”

“Oh, I’m going back home for Christmas,” July told him.

“Oh, ok… well I have to go now.”

“Ok, bye,” July hung up. She felt a little guilty for being that way to him, but she shrugged it off and fell asleep.

She woke to a text message from Ville saying, Good morning sweetheart. Hope you slept good. Have a wonderful day at work. She smiled and got ready for the day, which went on as usual; editing papers, assigning stories, and surfing the internet. She wrote a rough draft of the H.I.M. cover story, then called it a day.

As the days went by and Christmas got closer July felt a mix of emotions, excitement, guilt, annoyance, and everything else until one day she came home from work and saw Landon sitting on the couch. She didn’t pay much attention until she noticed two suit cases sitting on the table.

“What’s this?” she asked.

“Come sit down,” he said with out looking up. She slowly sat down in front of him.

“What’s going on.”

“I read the conversations on your computer between you and Ville.”

“You did what?”

“Now wait,” He cut her off. “I’m not mad. The truth is I’m happy, because I’m not right for you and we both know that. From the sounds of it, what you two had in high school seems like something special. I don’t want you to miss out on that, and the truth is I’ve found someone too and I think you already knew that. I do care about you, and I want you to be happy; I think he can give you that.”

July nodded her head slowly, absorbing what Landon had said. “Um, well I hope there’s no hard feelings. You’re a great guy, just…”

“I know,” he smiled. “I hope nothing but the best for you.” He stood up and gave her a hug and his key then left. Tears began to fall as she sat back down. She had never been broken up with before; never been rejected. She did care a great deal for him, but knew this was best and it was inevitable. She still didn’t know why she was crying. She knew she couldn’t just intrude in on Ville's relationship, but she wanted to talk to him.

“Hello,” he answered.

“Hey,”

“Darling what’s wrong? Are you crying?”

“Landon just broke up with me.”

“Oh sweetie I’m sorry are you ok?”

“I’m fine actually, but I’m still crying.” She kind of laughed.

“Tell me what happened.”

“Well, he read the messages from me and you on my computer but wasn’t upset. He said you were the one for me, not him.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, and he said he found somebody else too, and I think that’s what upset me. I’ve never been cheated on before,”

“I’m sorry darling. I wish I could make up feel better.”

“You’re a little far away,” she giggled.

“Yeah well…” he laughed.

“Ville! What are you doing!” Jonna yelled. July laughed,

“Well I’ll let you get back to her.”

“Alright love, I’ll talk to you later.”

July hung up the phone and called Savannah to tell her the news. She came over and they drank some wine and talked about everything in her Jacuzzi bathtub. Once it was late Savannah fell asleep on the couch because she had a bit much to drink, while July got on her lap top and began talking to Ville. Mean while in Finland Ville sat behind his computer screen while Jonna watched TV.

“You know we need to go to West Chester for Christmas.”

“I don’t know yet.” He answered in monotone.

“Well if you want me to be a part of your family I need to go.”

“I said I don’t know Jonna. I’ll let you know as soon as I do.”

She sighed, “What are you doing on your computer any way; you never use it.”

“I’m reading.”

She sighed and turned her attention back to the TV.

So darling will you come see me for Christmas, he typed.

Yeah I’ll go. I’ll be there, she typed back.

“Ok Jonna, yes we are going back for Christmas.” He called to her.

“Yay!” she squealed. I’m so excited!”

“Me too”
