少林寺拳法 Shoulinji Kenpo

Okay, had my first day in the Shoulinji Kenpo club yesterday. It was an experience... a good one, but interesting. First of all, learning all the japanese word for kick, punch, chest, solar plexus, groin, etc wasn`t easy. Second... while it resembles the Shaolin Kenpo I did in the US, everything is just different enough to be really frustrating. My body will do what it`s trained to be correct in-which is suddenly wrong. And then I`ll hafta follow the instructions in Japanese as best I can (which is an added layer of complication, as I first hafta remember the word before I can try and comply) So it was more mentally tiring than physically. Not to mention I didn`t get out of there until past 9, didn`t get home until after 10. Instead of cooking I bought a pair of meat-buns at the convenience store on the way home, and had to force my eyes open to eat those and do my homework before crashing.

I think maybe I should do more homework time between classes... ah well- that routine only happens twice a week, so I will persevere. And the people are really nice-- the girls especially, as they aren`t the wafer-thin. designer-handbag obsessed variety, but genuinely interesting people. But right now I`m just looking forward to going to the supermarket to buy yummy food, cooking yummy food, and not having any homework to get in the way of being lazy... =)
