Booo... got kicked out of the lab by some guy who walked into the doorway, who said loudly in english "Are you in Ms. Hasegawa`s class? Then get out" grrr.... soooo rude. It was "Writing in English 1" I`m like, dude- I can audit that class >:P Seriously between today and yesterday, I`ve had broken for me any stereotypes that I had about the Japanese being indirect (as for yesterday, yeah, that`s best left unmentioned >.<;;;;;) just goooooone. Feh, ah well- c`est la vie.
An another note I took the "alllooksame.com" quiz again in distinguishing Japanese from Korean from Chinese. I took it last year about this time, and I got a 5 or 6 I think... but I got a 9, yay!! perhaps all this time in Japan has attuned me a bit... of course my friend Jessica got an, uh... 2 out of 18 >.> SO I`m not sure that theory is validness. There goes some good English. =P I have gotten a little better at producing the english on demand. In Japan, thanks to the school system, they spend 6 years (at least) studying English and can barely speak. So to meet this problem, a variety of "English Conversation Schools" have sprung up. Where Japanese pay lots of money to go and practice speaking English in everyday contexts. Of course, me, being the genuine thing, being at a school known for it`s foreign language problem, will get people just walk up and "please speak english with us".
All in all, today has been a sort of weird day. I knew it was gonna be a long day in class- because someone points out at the very beginning of class that the two characters in our conversation are: DIKKU-san and KAAKU-san. (仲良しでしょう?) But, in general just couldn`t concentrate and spent the morning staring at the rain outside the window. Had to fight the lines for food, and ended up eating lunch on the floor in a corner of the room, under the stairwell >:/
Oh yeah, plus the rain curled my hair, so now I look, like 5. If I put it in pigtails I`d be the 171 cm godzilla version of Shirley Temple or something. By the way, Godzilla`s hometown is near here, Aratama-bashi. Speaking of which, I had to find Japanese characters for my name yesterday in Shoudo class, where we are literally carving inkan out of rock. My first name, phonetically in Japanese (アリソン) can mean either: "To have knowledge and reason(有理存)", or, uhh- "honorable ant (蜊尊)" as humorous as I`m sure the later`d be, I, uh- chose to carve the former. My last name is technically impossible to write in Japanese characters.
