I have a bad knee and the pool at the Y has helped me out a ton! Just go to the deep water classes. They gives you floats and you work out with your arms and abs and stuff - so it has practically no pressure on your knee. I am taking that class now with a bunch of 70 yr olds - they are all super fun! The teacher weighed almost 450 pounds and was told for her hip replacement surgery she had to loose at least 150 pounds and she started swimming. now she teaches the class and is around 200! :)

I understand about medications! Starting with taking the birth control depo shot - I gained 30 pounds in 9 months! I was eating a healthy and balanced diet and exercising - but it wouldnt come off. My dr took me off of it and I lost about 15. It can be depressing for sure. And then I was progressively gaining weight even with a personal trainer and eating WAY healthy. Then they found out my thyroid was way messed up. Sometimes our body just doesnt like us and makes us work EXTRA hard. I would highly recommend the Y - and if you join some classes and make some friends - it will be easier to get out of the house everyday too!

I hope this helps! :) And dont listen to that other person - no one should ever be belittled. There are easier and nicer ways to encourage and say what was said. And obviously they dont know how sensitive you are. AND I have read the book Skinny Bitch. It essentially says that everyone will be fat, miserable, and are murderers if they eat meat, dairy, cheese, etc. Vegetarian is the only way to go! It works for some people, but it doesnt work for everyone. It was written by these two chicks for one of their grad school final thesis. Almost half the book has been disproven already. It was an interesting read though. ANYWAYS!

The only way you will set a goal and stick to it is if you want to loose the weight for yourself and your self image. Not just for cosplay or just for this or that. It has to be for your self confidence and your own self image. And just remember that whether you weigh 150 pounds or 700 pounds - we love you for who you are! The rest is just artificial. So just smile! That is the first step. :)
