[Action/Voice Post]

*Rue had been coming down from the owlery, holding her cat Odile in her arms and looking a bit exasperated. The cat couldn't get into the tower, as she had enchanted it to keep her pet from getting in to see Fakir's winged pet Lohengrin, but Odile had wandered out of the Slytherin common room so she could pace around the entrance ( Read more... )

Trying to get up from the dungeons, the SAFEST place from the dragons, to the Owlery, one of the least safe places at the top of the school, was no small feat. It meant dodging prefects left and right, and Yukimi was sure to chew him out later, but Fakir wasn't the kind of person to let someone else get his sister if HE could, dumb as she was to be milling around the owlery when dragons were about.
He hadn't wanted to bring Ahiru AT ALL, since he was worried about her enough as is, but she'd insisted, hence both of them heading towards Rue amidst the destruction. They were trekking up the stairs when he heard her cry.

"Rue!" He quickened his pace toward the feather strewn area.

[ooc: Lawl, so Ahiru's with him. Manda's asleep right now, though, so I opted to just start the action tagging.]

Rue struggled to try and get to her feet, shakily keeping her grip on Odile while holding her bag in her other hand, trying to scare the remainder of the owls down the stairs. Several of them screeched angrily as they took off; one was even mean enough to slash rather sharply at her arm. Crying out again, Rue clutched at her arm, Odile yowling fearfully from her other shoulder. Feathers were everywhere, enough so that Rue could barely see anything, not even the birds as she tried to scare them from their roosts, meaning many of them slammed into her or their claws just barely missed her. And as reality seemed to blur, Rue vainly tried to make sense of it, even while lost in this sea of feathers. Feathers--claws-- She never made the connection as to when the feathers appeared almost black, or the hoots became caws, or what...but soon she was blindly hitting around, barely knowing why, blinding by feathers and dust.

((That's okay. XD I'll probably be gone for several hours myself here, but I will try to jet back as fast as I can to ( ... )

Ahiru stumbled after the dark-haired Slytherin, determined to keep up and help in any way she could. Upon hearing Rue's cry - which was then shortly followed by a second one, she urged her feet to go even faster, leveling her pace with Fakir's.

"We're coming, Rue!" she called out and then bit her lip down in worry, running up the last of the stairs as quickly as she possibly could.

'Please let Rue be alright!'

He reached the door of the owlery with Ahiru right behind him, and was startled by the owls milling around almost furiously.

"What the hell is..."

Directing his attention back to finding Rue amidst the flurry of feathers, he tried to make out the form of his sister. "Rue? Where are you, dammit?!"

Rue barely gathered a voice calling her name; in her mind, it's as though she is as small as a child, fending off the flock of angry, frantic birds. Even as most of the birds fly past her toward the door of the owlery she currently was unable to see, the black-haired girl struggled to keep her footing as the large birds fly past past in all directions, their claws accidently grabbing at her clothes and their feathers flying around her and in her hair and clothes. Rue's eyes were very wide as she frantically tried to find a way out, being shoved by the birds from all directions as they likewise tried to escape the space for the stairs. One of the owls that shoved past her, unknownst to her, was Lohengrin, but in Rue's deluded sense of time and place, she wouldn't have seen it.

Ahiru, too, was taken aback by the chaotic whirl of birds and feathers that erupted all around once they had finally set foot into the owlery. Shielding herself with one arm from oncoming owls, her blue eyes darted around, searching for the familiar form of her friend.

"Rue! RUE!" she shouted into the enclosure. "Can you hear us?"

And then, she spotted a figure near the center of the storm of feathers and wildly-flying birds, her eyes going wide. Was it Rue?

"Fakir!" She snagged his sleeve with one hand, pointing the other to the form that was still difficult to make out amidst the mess of frantic owls. "I think that's her!"

"Where?" Turning towards the indistinct form Ahiru pointed towards, Fakir squinted at the cloud of birds flooding their direction. There weren't any birds that big, so it HAD to be... "Then let's get her out of this damn tower."

He dashed towards the form, shouting as he made his way through the birds. "Rue! What the hell are you do--" A bird flapped his wings in his face and he sputtered feathers, blinking rapidly. It was...Lohengrin? Fakir hadn't even thought about him in the middle of all this...

Suddenly, it made more sense that she was up here. She wasn't...doing anything so stupid as trying to save his bird or anything? "You...you damned idiot! Stop trying to save the birds!" He made his way over to her, scratched by a talon or two as he reached for her arm.

The memory of caws echoing in her ears, Rue was about to bring her bag up to make a hitting movement to scare some more of the birds away...but where she was about to throw her bag, she saw someone's hand there, reacting out. Rue, the pupils rather small in her wide eyes, reacted with a primitive impulse-like desperation; she flung her arm out and grabbed onto Fakir's arm, her hand clutching onto his sleeve as birds flapped around them. Someone...someone there... Odile gave a fearful yowl from her place on Rue's shoulder, as if the cat was trying to make sure those there knew her mistress was here.

Ahiru could hardly see anything as Fakir rushed ahead, the Hufflepuff girl having a harder time getting through the crazed rush of owls. She winced as the oncoming birds indirectly tore at the arms she used to cover her head and face, plowing forward blindly.

Although the redhead missed seeing Fakir's owl, she managed to make it to his and Rue's location, a breath of slight relief releasing from her as she saw her friend reach out to grab a hold of Fakir. Hurrying to Rue's side, the girl turned concerned blue eyes to the Slytherin girl. "Rue! Rue, I'm glad we found you. Are you okay?"

The yank on his sleeve assured Fakir that she wasn't too injured; although the yowl of the cat surprised him. Muttering something about it being stupid to worry so much about the pets, he glanced up at the rafters, noting several (dumb) birds still perching up there. He took out his wand, "Idiotic animals--Relashio!"

The owls seemed startled by the sparks heading their way, causing more of them to flutter down, heading in the general direction of the door. Fakir turned towards his sister and girlfriend, grasping Rue's wrist now that there were somewhat-less birds milling about. "You can talk later; let's get the hell out of here before this tower falls next."

[ooc: Am I the only one amused by the irony of these three having to deal with a shitton of birds?]

Ahiru's voice shot Rue from the vague reverie she'd been in, her eyes becoming more aware; the birds were owls, not crows...they weren't attacking her, she had been trying to get them out of the owlery. What had she been... Her face deathly pale as she looked from Ahiru to Fakir, the Slytherin gave a delayed, quick nod to Fakir's words.

"...Y...yes." Her voice was a bit shaky despite herself, and her hand moved up absently to hold onto Odile better on her shoulder, even as the cat yowled anxiously.

Ahiru merely nodded in assent, eager to get Rue out of the owlery as soon as possible. Her face was lacking any color and she looked really frightened - had something happened before they came? With little hesitation, the redhead reached out to take her friends other hand and gave it a small squeeze in reassurance.

Everything would be fine now that they found Rue and the birds were freed, right?
