just read
you know that it takes a lot for me to invest my time when I barely have any to read a story. like, during the school year, I barely read fic that's over 4K because I just don't have the time, and usually fics that're longer than 4K take a bit longer to gain momentum even if they're written really well. It takes just the right pairing, just the right fandom, with just the right dynamics to even make me consider reading a fic when I'm super busy.
and that's my lousy preamble to me saying that it takes even more for me to recommend a fic, because that's basically me requesting that the people I'm recc-ing to take time out of their busy schedule to read a story. that being said, this story I read without knowing any of the characters, any of the fandom, I haven't even watched the movie, and I saw the /friendship/ tag and had lots of doubts as to whether I'd even get into it bc it's not gay and I haven't read non-gay fanfic since I was like in sixth grade.
by chapter 6, I was a wreck.
I had to finish two summer assignments the next day bc it was my last day of vacation, but the night before, I read all 36 chapters from 11PM to 5AM and the moment I woke up, I reread a few chapters and then dove into the sequel and read that all the way until 6PM. it's angsty, but the thing is, it's not tragic. no one dies and there's lots of forgiveness and humor and adorable and cute and comfort and angst and by the time I got to the sequel, I not only didn't mind that it was just friendship, but understanding everything, it's actually a lot better for the whole purpose of it that it's friendship. you'll see.
