I have decided that I seriously hate my computer. I wish to smash it against the wall.
So for the maybe one of you who may actually read this, and might not know, on Monday I took my computer to school in my backpack like I have done many times before. This was against my gut feeling that I should leave it at home, but it was Monday and I always take my laptop on Mondays. I mean, seriously what is the point of having a laptop if you can't bring it places? So I was, as I always am very careful with my precious little prissy baby I call my Dell 1501, but needed to use the bathroom. So when I went to go to gently lay my backpack down so I could use the bathroom my backpack slipped off my shoulder and hit the ground. I knew something was wrong because it sounded like it hit the floor hard, but felt no reason for alarm since the computer was off.
The next time I went to turn my computer on what do i get other than the original start up? A lovely beep from the bios. The beep was only occurring when the start up procedure was testing the memory. Lovely. So what do I do? I wait through the obnoxious beeps to see what my computer does after the start up checking is done. I get a "failed to load your operating system" error. When I go to select "System Repair" I find out that my keyboard is no longer working. So I immediately call Michael, who at this time is convinced it's just a sticky keys error. (If only that was my luck.)
So later on I have Michael look at it and I notice a code flashed before my start up (RS485/M BR# 23931) and now after the memory check it says fixed disk something or other..... awesome. We sat through the obnoxious beeping and used the built in memory checks both from Dell, and the one built in the Windows 7 check disk thingamajig. It found no errors. We also plugged in Michael's wireless keyboard and still received the obnoxious beeping. Now I noticed Phantom Scrolling, and it didn't matter whether or not my keyboard was the primary one or Michael's was. Or even if there was no keyboard at all.
All this made Michael conclude that I have a messed up Motherboard with broken connections in the board where it connects to my memory AND to my keyboard. This is why I hate my computer. Was it not only like 3 months ago that my hard drive died and I had to buy a new one? Have I not upgraded the memory to the point that my computer can not hold any more? Have I not replaced 4, yes 4 power supplies because I broke 2 of their chords and 2 died of mysterious means? I swear as soon as I can afford it I am getting a desktop.
Ps. I googled the code, and it does in fact have something to do with my motherboard... but no one seems to know what. Not even the computer geeks.
