I sipped the coffee slowly, keeping my eyes trained on Eicca at all times. The cellist unnerved me, made me do the most ridiculous things, so I was a tiny bit self-conscious.

“Puurtinen?”

Ah, crap, he’d noticed my staring, great. Sighing, I put down my coffee and turned to him.

“Why are you staring?”

I blushed. “Umm… Because?”

He placed his coffee on the table and folded his strong arms across his chest. “Because? Is not an answer, Burton.”

“Because you’re the most interesting thing in the room?”

Eicca laughed. “Idiot. Let’s go get dinner. There’s this great restaurant down the street. I went there with Perttu last week…” He stopped and I looked at him curiously.

“Sorry,” He said, toying with a long, golden lock. “I guess you don’t really want to hear about Perttu.”

I shrugged. “It doesn’t bother me, honestly. I get that you two are friends, I understand that you two have a history that goes back to high school.”

He looked at me through wide, earnest blue eyes and I felt myself lose what little self-control I had.

I shifted closer to him, and found myself running my fingers through his soft hair. I took a breath and kissed him softly.

He melted and opened his mouth to allow my tongue access.

After a good minute, we both needed air. We broke the kiss and gazed at each other.

“Still up for dinner?” I murmured, running the pads of my thumbs over his cheekbones.

Eicca looked dazed. “Dinner? What dinner?”

I laughed and pressed his coffee mug between his fine-fingered hands. “Drink, you’ll feel better.”

He raised the coffee to his lips, drank four long mouthfuls, and he snapped out of the daze. “What happened?”

I shrugged. “We kissed and you went into some kind of trance.”

“You have that effect on me, Burton.”

I grinned. “Dinner?”

He nodded. “Okay.”

We left the apartment and wandered down the street to the restaurant.
