I was gonna update this with much happier stuff, but for the past week I've just been so enraged with LJ's asshattery that I've had it to here.

In case you didn't know, on 12/12 they first announced sneakily on the Russian journal of LJ's design guy that with new ( Read more... )

Apparently some people have seen a difference today - but I have seen no difference at all either through my iPhone browser, PC or App. All seems to work the same so far.

Try leaving a comment here http://fandomcorner.livejournal.com/ and you'll see what it's all about.

I didn't notice a difference immediately either. Apparently it only affects journals who haven't enabled custom commenting style. I think it's affecting communities more than personal journals, who rely on comment subjects to manage and organise things.

I noticed a difference when posting a comment to someone's journal who was affected. It's...ugly. For one thing, if you want to change icons, you have to scroll through all of them -- which are in upload order. Plus the "parent" link is gone, which is not going to be fun in communities with long comment threads. And it looks ugly. Very Facebooky. I didn't get the warm fuzzies at all.

On my iPhone (which I'm typing from), I see no difference.

you have to scroll through all of them --

You can type the first letter, or more, of the name in the search box and find them instantly - my husband pointed this out to me when I moaned about the bloody stupid layout....

For someone who tends to skim-read comms with lots of comments, losing subject lines is a huge pain because I can't skip threads that don't interest me. It seems such a stupid move to make, and the arrogance of the developer responsible leaves me cold

I never really use the subject line, and quite like seeing what the icons are because I fail miserably at remembering what they are called, so I'm not that affected at the moment.

Having said that, everything seems the same at the moment to me!

And oh, it looks like they might be taking away the drop-down menu to select icons as well, so you'll have to load all your icons as pictures to select them. Lovely. (I will beta-test tonight to see if this is actually true.)

To be honest, although I complained in advance, and am only actually seeing the changes on two comms, I have to say that it could well be an improvement....

Means I can see all my icons if I'm having trouble choosing, or remembering, and actually it loads quickly and can be very quickly searched by the name if you know which one you want.

This opinion is likely to make me an outcast.
