DEPP NEWS: Several new Disney movies with Johnny Depp...
Most of you will probably have read this or know this by now, but here are a couple of details as to the new movies Disney and Johnny are working together on for the next few years...
> Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, playing the Mad Hatter - This one has been floating around for months, but at the recent Disney gala event, it was formally announced that yes he is. This is awesome news for me, because I just recently saw the old Disney cartoon, and I remembered how much I loved it as a little girl, although weirdly enough, I saw Johnny more as that smoking caterpillar ("Hoooowhy?") than the Mad Hatter, but hey, there's now a picture in my head of Johnny going, "A very happy un-birthday to meeeee!". This one is set to come out on March 5, 2010. Still a rather long wait, but as it's part live-action and part-animation, it will really take a long time to make. Principal photography starts in November.
> Jerry Bruckheimer's The Lone Ranger, playing Tonto - This one has me slightly weirded out, but it was also announced during the Disney gala event. For those who don't know, Tonto is the native American assistant of The Lone Ranger, who has a horse named Silver, hence, "Hi ho, Silver, away!" Ted Elliot and Terry Rosio, who wrote all 3 Pirates movies, are writing the script. I've no idea if it's gonna be animated, live-action, 3D or a mixture of two or all of those options.
> Pirates Of The Caribbean 4, playing Captain Jack Sparrow - All I can say about this one is YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Srsleh. I knew he'd miss it after a few years of being away from Jack, XDDDDDDDDD. No word yet on what it's going to be about, but we can be pretty sure it'll still have something to do with Jack's obsession with immortality, if the last scene of Pirates 3 is any indication.
ALSO, Public Enemies of course comes out early next year, with The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus following.
(This bit of Johnny Depp news is here because it's fuel for the fire that is The Hillywood Show. You know Hilly and Hannah are gonna jump at the chance to add some new stuff to their repertoire, and are probably just as excited about these announcements as we are.)
