I've recently "embraced the suck." I too and a generally cynical and pessimistic person, so it's a welcome coping mechanism.

And why would anyone make fun of a VW Jetta? Is there some atrocious secret about these cars that I don't know about? Does it use children's tears for fuel or something?

Both Curtis and Hank and every other funsucker on the planet has bewailed the Jetta (or VWs in general) for shaky reliability, high maintenance costs, and use of premium fuel. My attitude is that this will be my first NEW car, and never again will I have this experience, and for free (my Dad is paying for it), so why not get what I want?

They don't use children's tears for fuel, but I do hear that you have to put baby seal oil in it. That could be a downer.

Me too, but I think that at this point in most peoples lives, life kinda sucks. I guess this is growing up. Things usually get better in time.

Jetta's are kick ass! I almost got one, but my dad got something else. If it was up to me I probably would have gotten a Jetta. Good choice!

My stepmom used to have a Passat, and I loved that car so much. When my dad told me I could get a new car, my first choice was the Jetta. They are awesome. I was probably unduly influenced by that VW commercial about "low ego emissions". I thought that ad was hilarious.
