I finished watching the UK Office, and (no real spoilers, just love)
I really liked the way the Christmas Specials really wrapped things up for us. The Dawn/Tim resolution was awesome, David was brilliant as always-- Garreth, gah, Garreth. I love these characters and this show for totally different reasons. I'm glad that I did decide to watch the original, as I think it not only gave me a new show to love forever and always, but it makes me love the US Office all the more.

So, funniness abounded with Dwight's speech and stuff, and as always -A one A angst. So much, in fact, that I sat and wrote a diatribe analyzing Jim/Pam. Now that I've seen the UK Office, I feel torn as to what my prediction on what will happen in the Jim/Pam relationship. While my shipper sensibilities want to say that Pam will call off the wedding, I don't think she will. Since she's waited this long for her shining moment with Roy, she's not going to want to give up the fantasy. Especially seeing as how little fantasy she really has in her life. She lets all her dreams crumble, she stays with Roy cuz he's comfortable, and I thought she mastered appearing as though she was totally consumed with wedding planning and invitation sending that Jim no longer mattered. The scene with Ryan was just so great-- I loved that on too many levels, just because it was so multi-layered. Pam feigns her contentment with Roy because she's getting married. Period. If she does marry him, she'll be living a life that's based on lying to herself. I'm not saying that I think Roy's an awful guy-- everybody has flaws-- but he doesn't respect Pam, he doesn't encourage her, he doesn't want her to do whatever makes her happy or what is best for her-- and that's not real love to me.

I think that the major stepping stone for Pam is for her to realize what she wants for love to be in her life. If she's content in her life with Roy (and if she was, this thing with Jim wouldn't run so deep, right?) then she can marry him and be done with it. But, we all know that even if she *does* marry him, she's not going to be happy. So, she needs to realize that PRE marriage. Which would happen in a perfect world. But, will it?

I feel on pins and needles, but I think that if I was Pam, seriously, despite the security with Roy, despite her expectations with Roy, despite the risk of loving someone other than Roy-- I'd pick Jim. (thanks to Trixie for pointing out my mistype here. I like to change the letters around...) And spend a nice extended holiday, with him, in the Outback.

And, a little more TV ramblings:

I entered watching this one with some major trepidation. I'd heard (from critics other than Wanda/Kristen) that it's either too much like Arrested Development or that it's creepy. I don't know what I think about it yet. Pilots always try really hard, esp when it's a comedy, and I don't think that this one is in any way different. But, I did get a few serious laughs, and I didn't watch Arrested Development (time slot conflicts, not because I didn't appreciate the show). It's a watch and see for me.

I freaking love this show. Ten things I am happy about:
1. That it's not family edition anymore. Something I'm thankful for EVERY. SINGLE. DAY
2. The frosties are no more. So, I found them slightly amusing week one. Week two, I was ready for them to go.
3. That I can get so pissed about the frat boys and their one track sex minds. I just want to toss things at them.
4. A mother/daughter team with people that are equally competent.
5. They're going to Moscow next week! Sweet!
6. One line: "Hippie Power!"
7. The distilling sugar cane and making ethanol thing-- how cool is that?
8. Again, for the record: Yay for no more crappy family edition!
9. Yay for the 9 pm timeslot. Much more accommodating. Thanks CBS
10. I love that from the moment it starts til the closing scene, my heart is in my throat.

Wow, that was rambly. One more thing: Gmail Chat rules. Period.

the office, gmail chat, sons and daughters, the amazing race
