Book review - Supernatural: The Heart of the Dragon

Mar 17, 2010 22:37

I picked up Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon by Keith B.A. DeCandido the other day. I'm fascinated by tie-in novels; are they canon or just paid-for and sanctioned fanfics?

It's not my intention to answer that question today but I want to do a review of this book.

I've heard about these novels, but I've wondered the same thing about how "canon" they are. Great review though. I wish there was way for me to get my hands on some of them - I'd love to take them apart.

What has Starbucks to do with anything? Did I miss the bit where Frappuccinos are really demon blood or did Dean say to Sam that he couldn't get a latte venti until he properly atoned for betraying him?

This has me giggling so hard. Just - This needs to be turned into a fanfic. >_>

The fact that the tie-ins are pro and there a fair game for public and thorough reviewing makes me strangely gleeful.

And yeah, the Starbucks thing might make a great fic.

I wish we could have a copy of the Supernatural books from the show. That'd be all kinds of awesome.

I can just see it now. Sam is all emo and Dean's all like mad-glare-of-brotherly-non-concern and they don't talk because GOD FORBID they discuss their ~feeeeeelings~ and Sam really really really really wants Starbucks and Dean's all like mad-at-you-headshake-of-DOOM and OMG the draaaaaamaaaaaa.

That's how it happens. *nods*

Yeah, the books from the show. That would be epic - I want to read Chuck's version of a full frontal Dean. ;)
