Wild Hunt

Pluto and I took a lovely 5-mile walk near Lake Monona this morning. I must admit that, much as I bellyache about Madison, some of our neighborhoods--especially on the east side--are fun and funky. We were in a neighborhood up above the lake this morning, and the crazy lawn ornaments and endless liberal lawn signs are fun.

My financial planner came to the house today. I like Brian very much; he is funny and sarcastic and I hope to hell he knows what he's doing with my money. I tried very hard to understand investments and to feel good about them, but this subject is beyond my purview. So I hired the guy and gave up the idea that I can do this myself.

Brian called me a couple of weeks ago, telling me not to freak out about the market. Today we signed papers to move some of my funds into a more conservative vehicle. Also, I changed my secondary beneficiaries from Beckett and Reese (my oldest grands) to Jason, my son-in-law. If Jess should die, Jason will need that money and we won't have to mess with putting it into a trust or whatever. Look at me--talking like I have some money I do, but it's all locked up in IRAs. I keep praying that my ancient appliances won't conk out before I can start taking money out of those IRAs.

Feeling anxious about the elections. Nobody knows what to expect.

As you can see, I am crossposting this, as several of you have inspired me. It looks rather as though some of the communities here on Dreamwidth might actually be functional.
