Well, folks, I guess I'm in a pattern of sinking into muck. Did it again today at a different county park.

We went out to Token Creek, which is a quite large county park, today. There is a dog park there, but we're not doing that. I always let Pluto take the lead and he tends to want to go on the horse trails. The park is 425 acres and seems rather endless. I have a book on the sacred sites of Wisconsin and this park was listed in there because it has 9 springs. We found one of them today.

We also found an equestrian trail that was closed. Of course, I continued to walk on it, thinking that we could get to the road quickly. Yeah. Walked through a LOT of muck and sank pretty deeply. We ended up having to back track and walk back to the car.

Here we are on a functional trail.

I had an appointment at the library, as they are offering curbside pickup again. When I got to the car, I told them that I got lost and could not make it there by 1:00. They kindly switched the appointment to 1:30 and I did get there on time. It was amusing to see the small little bag of library materials. I guess this means that I have to return the stuff I have been hanging onto all this time.

This errand and having to go to the apothecary left me little time this afternoon to get ready for my book discussion with Marian. Nonetheless, Marian and I had a nice discussion. I feel like we talked mostly about my disgruntlement over an email I got from Emily today that seriously pissed me off. I did not ask for feedback on a post I wrote and I don't think she knows what she's talking about. She needs to stay in her lane. I need to cool down a lot before I can even address this. I am very tempted to just not respond and to continue to do things the way I have been doing them. It's a long story, but I don't appreciate the attitude.

This was yesterday's park with emerging cow parsnip plants.

I managed in all this to double-book myself for tonight. I had made plans with Ruth to get some take-out food and sit in my back yard, but we rescheduled that for the weekend.

I don't need to tell you that it's been a hellish week news wise. I thought my head was going to fucking explode when Trump pulled his bible stunt. I am extremely pleased that religious and military leaders are speaking out. I don't know that it's enough to turn the tide. I wasn't aware that Keith Ellison was the Attorney General of Minnesota and I am so proud of him charging all the cops responsible for George Floyd's death.

Protestors closed the Beltline down again for the 4th day in a row. I think it's great.

I am trying to stay off Twitter because it's just pissing me off. People are getting meaner and the bots are out in full force. I'm being a dumbass arguing with people. Take all the devices away and nobody will get hurt.

Fun things: tomorrow is a "graduation" ceremony for Beckett, who goes into middle school next year. I am headed to their house tomorrow and apparently the teachers and administrators are going to drive by. I feel bad for Beckett because he didn't get an actual ceremony, much less any orientation to middle school. That's a huge developmental step.

I have had an old oak library table sitting in my garage for the last 15 years. When I was working at the Lab, I was friendly with one of the maintenance men. The higher ups told him to throw this table out because the top is stained. But otherwise, it's a really nice, solid table.

My neighbor Matt is always asking me if there are any projects I need help with, so I asked him if he could put the table together for me and bring it in the house. I had purchased new screws for it some time ago. So first, I had to find the screws. I found them the other night, so Matt put it together and brought it in the house today. I want to make the second bedroom an office of sorts and although I have to rearrange the room, it will be nice in there.

My garden looks great. So does my daughter's, which kind of amazes me. She gave me a tour when I went there to hang out on Sunday. It appears that I gave her many of the same kind of irises. I swear I gave her other stuff, but I think she killed it.

I completely redesigned my front garden last summer. It was hella work and I find that I am still not satisfied with it. I am going to be smarter and mark the irises I want to dig. I am getting more into native plants and plan to replace some of the regular perennials with the native plants. I winter sowed some prairie plants and have some liatris, wild lupine, great St. John's wort, marsh marigold, asters, and showy goldenrod seedlings.

I planted and replanted some vegetables and since we have had tons of rain (thus the muck swamps) and heat, plants are popping right out of the ground.

Once again, we have summer overnight. Marian said she is worried about the summer, with it being this hot already. Well, the summers are just hot. I have been running the AC already as I have a mold problem in this house and need to keep it dry.

It's time to feed Mr. P and to watch some TV.

Hope everybody has a great weekend.
