Orientation

I just got back from Orientation last night. Even though everyone said it would be boring I thought it was a lot of fun. Granted, the lectures got boring, but there were some amazing speakers who were really moving.

The first day we got there and we were thrown a 60 question survey on our religious beliefs. Then we went to mass with everyone. So from the start I felt really out of place and was doubting how right BC was for me.

But as orientation went on, the religious aspect turned into a community service thing and this really warm feeling you got from all the proffessors and the fathers. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad I'm going to a Jesuiit school. Not that I'm going to be going to mass and praying all the time, but just that the people there are soooo sooo nice and everyone truely cares about you. I dont think I'd get that feeling at a huge state university.

My orientation group wasnt that great, but I made friends in the CSOM (business school) meetings. I met this one girl from Jersey who is also going to be a marketing major. She was crazy organized like me and went to a big public high school so we hit it off. Then there was this other girl from New York who I was with a couple times. I got both of their info so that we can get together in the fall. There was practically no one from outside the north east.

On the second night, during our supposed "dance" which was beyond awful, a bunch of us set up an ultimate frisbee game on the quad outside the library. It was so cool because the chapel was all lit up behind us and the golden eagle had a spotlight on it and we all felt so colliegate! The guys I met were really nice. Some were trying too hard to try to pick up girls, but there were some who were more mature and were just really sweet people.

I'm so excited to go back. We got our super fan shirts on the last day and we were all screaming the fight song (which I only know 1/2 the words to). The classes I got were so so, but I'm going to try to change my history class and try to get into Chemistry in Society, which is a class about the chemistry of laundry detergent and cool stuff like that for people who are awful at history.

Oh! I already kinda picked up a slight accent. It's been 3 days!!! This is not good.

Okay, better go get some food. I'm working till 11 tonight. I've been soooo busy I cant do anything!!

EAGLES ON THE WARPATH!
