Update between tides

Ahh..one super busy week down, one to go.

Lets see...let me start from the top...and work my way towards the big news.

Lets see...Hannukka, Christmas with Kayce's family, my 26th birthday...all good stuff. Gifts were given, gifts were recived (Highlights include: The Complete Friends DVD series, half a dozen or so great movies, Assorted gift cards, rubber training knives, an excellent set of kitchen knives, and a carpet sample.) Big fun. A bit of a low key New Year though. Dinner with my folks and an evening watching the CSI Marathon on Spike. Sure, I'd like to have done something a little more exciting and a lot more drunk, but I had to get up early on the 1st.

See, I got my first overhire job at the Shakspeare Theater. Load out for their old show, load in for Richard III. I worked nearly 80 hours in 7 days. Not simple work either. Lifting and carrying steel platforms and grateings, drilling, bolting, climbing, rigging and hauling. Up at 5:30, home by 7:30, asleep by 9. I'm sore all over. But hey, in 2 weeks I'll be getting a big ass paycheck. Big ass paychecks are good. I'm thinking this overhire buisness might become a regular thing. If I can get in with 2 or 3 good paying theaters...Might change my whole outlook on this "Freelancing" buisness.

Tommorow Kayce and I fly to Chicago to intern at the Winter Wonderland Workshop. Tuesday and Wednesday we can just hang out with friends we have there. On thursday we start out internship, busting our asses helping the workshop run smoothly. Paying our dues and hopefully having a lot of fun doing it.

Things will then slow down. I'll be teaching a stage combat class in Reston on sundays, and teacher assisting for Robb Hunter again into the spring.

In other news, Kayce and I are now engaged. I asked her to marry me on Christmas Day, after the big hubaloo with her family. After freaking out and crying some, she said yes. More on this story as it develops.

Yeah...so that's one big ass update right there. It's been a busy few weeks. And it looks like it's going to stay busy for a little bit, then chill out some.

kayce, big news, teaching, overhire, stage combat, update
