::grumble:: Sometimes, I hate the internet.
A thousand sites all talking about a free download of
Mechwarrior 4 (since buying it off ebay or Amazon will cost you anywhere from $65 to $135). Apparently in celebration of the anniversary of Battletech's debut, they want to give away their highly awesome game. Everybody is talking about this...well, not everybody, but a lot of people. Including the actual owners of the game on their own sites.
What they DON'T do, is tell anybody when it's actually happening. The most recent thing I've found about it dates back to October 29th. They don't even say when the actual 25th anniversary is, because that might constitute a clue.
Why is this irking me so much? Cause I want to play Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. And I own it. Or I did. I can't find the other disc. I have the first disc, but not the second. Must've gotten lost at some point during the move. ARG! So I'm all like "Crap, maybe I can score it on Amazon for like $5, right? Since it's so old?" But NO. Because it's so old and everybody apparently loved it and wants it, those people with used copies can apparently ask for $139 for it.
Which is annoying on the back end, because if I HAD the other disc, I could apparently get $60 for the pair. But no. Of course not.
This has been a trivial rant. You may now go back about your business.
