(no subject)
It's snowing quite intensely. I'm wandering around the house doing my cleaning thing. But occasionally I have a thought.
So it's time for some bullet points.
- Where did Steampunk come from? Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it suddenly seems to be everywhere and I don't remember noticing it building. It's just suddenly there. And almost everybody knows what I'm talking about when I mention it. Well, I suppose I should be more specific, because I know Steampunk came from a style of Anime that's recently become very popular (recently= past 5-10 years) like Steamboy and Howl's Moving Castle. I guess I just didn't realize it had become such a common choice among geek culture. It's pretty cool, but very hard to "throw together". I doubt very much that most of us could dig into our closets and pull out a steampunk outfit from odds and ends we have lying about.
- Saw R+J with the Rudes last night. Great job to any and all who were involved, sorry I couldn't have stuck around to be in that show. In retrospect I probably would have had a complete breakdown had I stuck with it.
- I really need to do more photostuff, I've got pent up creative energy and I need to do something with it. What? I have no idea. I'm not good at generating ideas.
- Someone has to explain to me gas masks as a fetish. Because I don't see the appeal.
- Women with swords, on the other hand, I get.
- I also wish I had access to more interesting spaces. I can only shoot my apartment from so many different angles before it's all just the same stuff. So many factors come into play when you go out in public or sneak somewhere you're not supposed to be.
- Does anybody else ever worry that they are completely misreading a social situation? I worry about that a lot.
- I dunno why, but the idea struck me the other day to watch the Die Hard and the Lethal Weapon movies in an alternating sequence. Die Hard, then Lethal Weapon, then Die Hard 2, then Lethal Weapon 2.... And I've come to the conclusion that Die Hard starts much stronger, but loses it's way pretty quickly and then ends on a strong, if not ideal, note. Whereas Lethal Weapon is ok at first, peaks with number 2 and then winds down, to crash and burn with number 4. But, on the other hand, at least the characters behave consistently in the Lethal Weapon series....so who can really say...

- if you've got 10 minutes to waste, this is HIGHLY entertaining.
