Well. This deserves an entry.

As I have clearly not had a shitty enough year, the Powers That Be decided that there were a few more shots to be taken at me.

They killed Kyle.

Kyle Rayner, Green Lantern is dead. And it might be for good. Why? Because he didn't go out on top. They slowly weaseled him into the background, then killed him off. They gave him his moment of glory, but they killed him none-the-less. Every time they kill a comic book character with the intention of bringing him back, it's always in a blaze of glory, riding high kind of way.

They just haven't taken enough from Kyle. From the begining, his life hasn't exactly been sunshine and roses. every woman he's loved has died. Including his mother. He's given up god-like power twice. Once as a selfless act, and once it was taken from him.

I've read the adventures of this character since I was in middle school. I've deeply identified with him and shared his joy, pain and trials.

And now he's dead. Just like that.

And I'm terribly saddened by that. I'm not crazy, I know he's a comic book character. I get that. I'm not losing touch with reality.

But I still feel very sad.

green lantern, comic books, sad
