Catch up

Ahh...finally (almost) caught up on everything. I'd be totally caught up, but until the wedding planning is over, there's really no way to be 100% caught up in my life.

But we are working on that. Invitations are being printed, when then arrive Kayce and I will start on those. Still searching for Honeymoon options, if anybody knows anything about where will be nice in september (Hurrican Season for the caribbean, right?), please don't hesitate to let us know.

Oh right...and I have those bills to take care of. I'll do that next.

So Kayce and I spent last week in Destin, Florida. If you want to take a vacation to a really nice place, Destin is not bad. It's a little heavy on the "family fun" in most areas, but not TOO heavy. It's no Cape May, but you can feel the family vibe.

It's on the gulf side of Forida, up near Alabama. It's georgeous. Warm water, white beaches, light green/blue surf....it's fantastic. I highly recommend it. The only downside is that it's not near any airport. So there's some serious driving to do to get there.

Tim and Caroline were nice enough to invite us to stay at their family beach house with them and our mutual friends Ann and Shawn. We spent 7 days drinking, swimming, sunbathing, hanging out and generally having fun.

And now

First, the view,

Pretty sweet huh? I lost track of how much time was spent on that porch, between dinners out there, photo shots we took, and general hanging out and drinking beer.

And of course, there was much fun on the beach.

(In case you were wondering, Caroline is pregnant.)

Then the boys went out sea fishing for Red Snapper

Ended up catching the legal limit

(In case you were wondering, the ladies were shopping while we fished)

We had a couple nights out

And a couple nights in

One night we went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which we unanimously thought was crap. Vaugely entertaining crap, but crap. Thank you Mr. Lucas for leaving no stone unturned in your quest to turn my childhood against me.

On the way home, we ran over a bolt and had to change a tire. It was time for the men to step up and show they were men.

We did well.

All in all, a blast and a half. I wish we could have stayed longer. Much much longer. This has been a good year for vacations.

"Extreme People Watching"

Way more painful than it looks....

I'll elaborate on "Extreme People Watching" in a later entry. Soon I'll be away at the Savage Mountian Summer Workshop. Then, in a few weeks, Kayce and I have her Family's beach week, which...while there is far less potential for fun, I'm sure we'll make the best of it. After that, it's the final strech to the wedding.
