As a concerned citizen, I feel it's my duty to point it out when I feel like our government does something really fucking stupid.
Like when it funds a study. A 10 million doller study on the effects of sleep deprivation on teenagers. Guess what? Apparently teenagers are more anti-social when they're sleep deprived. Well no shit. I'm glad it cost us taxpayers $10,000,000 to figure out something I could've just told you.
But that's an old gripe of mine. One I heard about when I was, in fact, a teenager in High School.
Two fresh gripes have come to my attention in the past week.
1) This whole nuclear warhead parts being sent to Taiwan by mistake. Everybody is all upset about this (I am bothered by it as well for the record) they're freaking crying "How could this happen? Oh my! How could we make a mistake like this!?" And then they mention that incident a few years ago where a bomber flew cross country with nuclear bombs in it's hold by mistake.
How could this happen? I can answer that one. It's simple.
We have too fucking many nuclear weapons.
Think about it. When you've only got a small handful of whatever, it's easy to know where they all are at any given moment. But when you have thousands of something, it gets a bit harder.
Besides, how many fucking nuclear weapons do you even need? I don't think it's a matter of having as many as possible. Having a thousand nuclear weapons does not make you more powerful than the person who has a hundred. Either way, if someone pushes that button, we're fucked.
2) I got a letter in the mail from the IRS. Apparently I'm eligible for a special "Economic Stimulus payment" with my tax refund. See, the folks up there in the government decided that the best way to help pull our economy out of the tailspin it's heading towards was to give people a couple hundred bucks.
What kind of morons do we have in charge of our country? This is the best we could come up with? Seriously?
I've got a better plan. Why don't we drop the cost of gasoline by about $2 a gallon? Why do you think everything is getting more expensive? Because it's costing more to get even the simplest of things from point A to point B. And every business has to pass that info down the line until it lands on the wallet of average Joe. And Average Joe is spending more and more money just getting around.
