Tired of being sick. Home again today after half a day, missed a day and a half last week. This isn't good for my bank account.
I can eat bready things (mostly toast and crackers), soups (brothy, low on meat, and gods help me if there's any dairy in them), soft-boiled eggs, and occasionally a little bit of cheese or soft meat (such as Vienna sausages, which are almost pre-digested anyway). I can drink lemon-lime Gatorade, ginger ale, tonic water, and (occasionally) Diet Coke. Even these few things make me sick sometimes. I'm already bored with them. My nurse practitioner can't see me until tomorrow.
In other news, I went to Starbucks yesterday when my stomach took a brief hiatus from hating me. I was wearing my ninja monkeys shirt, and the barista who rang me up (cute blonde girl about 16 or so) asked me where I got it. I told her, and mentioned Mike's flying hamster of doom shirt, and before I knew it she was telling me how her friends talk about breeding midgets in underground caves so they can take over the world riding potato-powered rabbits, and how they got together on weekends to play air hockey for countries, and how she and one of her friends plan to go into money laundering so they can buy Russia and rename it America 2. And I smiled and tried not to look patronizing, because she was so unabashedly dorky that it warmed my heart. It reminded me somewhat of my friends in high school, somewhat of the Mac gamers, and I was happy to know that there is indeed a new generation of unashamed dorks in my hometown to take up... well, to take up where the people who took up where my friends and I left off left off.
The end of that last sentence was like a Russian nesting doll... or an America 2 nesting doll, perhaps. How fun.
