HILARIE TO PLAY HEROIN ADDICT IN NEW FILM

Hilarie Burton has signed on to the play the role of a heroin addict in the new movie Provinces of Night based off the novel by William Gay. The movie will film in Wilmington, N.C. soon for five weeks. Hilary Duff, Toby Keith, Pell James, and Bruce McGill are rumored to co-star.

Provinces of Night is about E.F. Bloodworth who has returned to his off the map hometown in Tennessee in 1952. His wife has faded and his three sons are grown and bitter. Warren is a womanizing alcoholic, Boyd is driven by jealousy to hunt down his wife's lover, and Brady puts hexes on his enemies from his mama's porch. Then there's Fleming, the grandson of the old man whom he treats with respect and sees past the hatred that can poison a man's soul. The love of Raven Lee, the teenage sloe-eyed beauty from across town gives Fleming the courage to reject his family's curse.

We'll keep you posted as progress it made for filming and casting news.

Hilarie was in attendance at the recent planned (but scrapped) press conference held by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue that was supposed to announce the new Miley Cyrus/Nicholas Sparks film "The Last Song" that would be filming in Wilmington, but was scrapped at the eleventh hour.

Later that afternoon when asked by Star-News about the film industry in general, Perdue then said, "'One Tree Hill'? I love it!"

N.C. GOVERNOR BEV PERDUE CONFESSES HER LOVE OF "ONE TREE HILL"

It was a crazy day for the Wilmington film industry Wednesday. A planned press conference by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue that would have announced that the new Miley Cyrus/Nicholas Sparks film "The Last Song" was going to film here was scrapped at the last minute. But later that afternoon, Perdue talked to the Star-News about the state's film industry in general. And that's when she said,"'One Tree Hill'? I love it!"

Now, it's possible she was just expressing her appreciation for the show that keeps so many people employed in Southeastern North Carolina. But I prefer to assume she was talking about the show itself -- heart-eating dogs, psycho nannies and all.

Also in the crowd at the scrapped press conference was "One Tree Hill" actress Hilarie Burton, who said she was excited about working in another upcoming local production. Burton said she'll play a heroin addict in the film "Provinces of Night," which has yet to announce a final cast list but hopefully will begin filming in a few weeks.
