I posted this on FB, so some of you have seen this. But what is really hitting home is how much of this is hitting the kids, due to exposure to small, not particularly biased seeming snippets

Thanks for the feedback--it is helpful to hear what other people do. We've pretty much said the exact same things, framing it more how he sounds really sheltered, ignorant and bubbled that way, despite being a not-young guy who was arguable power player (con man) in NYC.
I mean, even what he said about working with Ben Carson this week was so clumsy, something along, "When I met people when working with him this week I met so many people who looked like him--really great people." I mean, if it wasn't tone-deaf and condescending and patronizing it would go down among one of his less offensive/better intentioned comments--makes it sad how low the bar has gone.
Yeah, here in MA the LGBT rights have always been their normal (not that there are never issues there). Interestingly, from a personal commentary perspective, that is one area where Trump has been less overtly offensive and seems more moderate, EXCEPT FOR THAT WHOLE THING WHERE HE PICKED PENCE. Just more of what makes their intentions confusing, terrifying, contradictory, chaotic-seeming...
I'm perplex by that too. Like does he have a secretly gay family member?
It may be that he can't see past or relate to race or gender/women's issues, but somehow he has had enough rich white male gay friends that he is able to be more accepting?
However, I have a theory that it may also be part of a tactic to get groups to be divisive and hate each other more because some are getting the pass and others are being persecuted.
Or maybe it's just a deal he made with someone-- he doesn't do the anti-gay EO and they will support some other EO.
I sense he personally doesn't care at all what people do. He hasn't always been consistent politically, but has been reasonably consistent there. But he also doesn't care enough to protect the community, hence strategically choosing Pence to help with the evangelical vote.
But yeah, I'm sure he doesn't mind keeping the Milos of the world :(
