A sad day for my apartment view

This has always been the view from my apartment window for the 2 years I've lived here:
Today, they cut the tree down:
At least there still is one large tree, but it's not as close to my window as this one was. I have no idea why they did this. I really loved the view from the window; it was one of my favorite things about this apartment.
