So everyone likes to go on that back to the future 3 is the best of the series because it is chronologically clean well no it isn't
Doc' s tombstone says "his beloved Clara"
Meaning that he and Miss Clayton were an item and in the 1800's, to become an item you had to know someone fsomeone time and you may court a gal for upwards of 5 years.
Now Clara was supposed to die by going over the ravine the day she arrived after the horses were scared by a snake. We van presume that this happened regardless because even though doc had not gone back there by the time Marty was in school he knew the story and doc had to have gone back because the tombstone was in the graveyard and the delorean was in the mine they had to be there from day 1 of the first movie.
Now doc went to 1885 and lived there for several months writes the letter and dies a few days later the party was Saturday and bufford shoots doc and he dies on Monday .
Before Marty went back things had to progress as normal with Clara dying and tje ravine getting her name but when he went back he distracted doc from his noal routine and he was at the ravine with Marty and was able To rescue Clara therefor changing a part of history that was something Marty remembered.

Leaveng 1955 in the drive in Clara is dead in the ravine and doc is dead who bought that tombstone?
