“…it just breaks my heart to hear that you’re using him…”

Silence filled both of their worlds, until the only sound that could be heard was the thud of Aimi dropping all in her arms on the ground and the shattering of Hikaru’s heart.

Hikaru’s face was twisted with an expression of despair. He could feel the aching in his heart from the heart break mixed with the heat of his blood boiling from infuriation. Hikaru couldn’t help but feel like another fool played by the cold, destructive side of love. Every act she had pulled, he had fallen for. Was I that blinded by love?  Hikaru tightly shut his eyes to prevent the waterfall of tears they held. He took a deep breath before he could open them again, revealing his tears. He turned his gaze towards Aimi, the misery, agony and grief he felt was shot at her in a look begging for her reason to play with his heart and feelings as if they were a toy.

Aimi’s world just crashed. She had never become so close to anyone in her entire life, until she had met Hikaru she had never let anyone in. But the closeness had disappeared in that instant, and all that replaced it was a dark, barren void like the one in her heart the moment she had felt Hikaru leave it. She looked over at the boy she no longer knew. His liveliness, energy and infectious smile were sucked into the abyss that parted them. All that was left was a broken, crushed mess that nothing could repair. Aimi herself felt like a ghost, a soul with no purpose left alone in this cold, desolate world. All reason to live was sucked into that dark hole along with her heart and the only one that could tame it. Karma’s bitter vengeance had taken its toll, and Aimi couldn’t escape. She took every bit of agony, torture and pain that was thrown at her, knowing perfectly well she deserved every ounce of it. “I-i-I’m sorry…” she whispered, desperately attempting not to cry and horribly failing.

A tear rolled down Hikaru’s cheek. He felt empty, lost and just played. He could feel a thousand knives stabbing into him. Those knives stabbed every time the fatal words were repeated in his mind. He couldn’t look at her anymore, his angel who had turned out to be a demon in disguise. He averted his gaze by staring down at the phone in his hand. 4 words caught his eye, and all that was heard was Aimi’s phone crash with the floor. “…to get to Yamada!?!” Hikaru cried out in despair, hopelessness, anger, envy and agony.

Aimi began to cry from the intense pain the situation was bringing her. “But I don’t love him, I love you…” Aimi’s words were barely audible over her sobs.

A darkness replaced the usual warmth in Hikaru’s eyes. “You don’t love me.” He whispered icily. “I’m just another pawn in your little game.” His words were bitter and harsh. He turned, uttering his final words with his back to her. “Good luck, I hope you win your prize.” And with that he walked until his faint steps could no longer be heard.

Aimi collapsed to the floor, overwhelmed by her shock and pain. Her tears were streaming down her face as she sunk into her dark depression. All she could hear were faint snickers of cruel love in her ear before the world before her turned upside down. She could feel herself getting light headed and not bothering to retrieve her possessions, she got up and left school, never wishing to return.

Peering from a nearby corner, an onlooker smirked deviously. Until another’s whispers were heard.

“Rika, what have you done?”

Rika spun around to see the face of Yamada. “And where have you been?” She questioned. “You can’t just be a no-show and not tell me Yamada Ryosuke, it ruins the happy couple image!”

Yamada glared. “Rika, what have you done?” He shook her this time.

“Get your hands off of me!” She snapped.”

“Rika!” Yamada tried his hardest not to scream. “They were in LOVE! They were HAPPY! Couldn’t you see that! She had never once looked at me the way she has been looking at him lately!”

Rika smirked. “Hmph, what, are you jealous too now Yama-chan?”

“No! I was happy for them! I was happy that they were happy! In fact, that’s why I wasn’t around, I didn’t want to be involved in your little schemes to ruin them!”

“Ha!” Rika laughed. “Why let him be happy with her when he can be happier with me!”

“You are DELLUSIONAL!” Yamada cried. “He. Doesn’t. Love. You. And. He. Never. Will!”

Rika’s face was twisted with anger and before she could control herself, she slapped Yamada in the face.

Yamada held his throbbing cheek while Rika smirked. “You didn’t answer me the first time, what did you do to them Rika?”

Rika just smirked back. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

[ flash back ]

Rika walked into her bedroom, wanting to escape her cousin’s non-stop complaints about her boyfriend or whatever she was talking about, Rika didn’t really give a damn. Then something on Hiromi’s bed had caught her eye.

“Oh my god that bitch!” Rika almost yelled out loud. “What the fuck is she doing with my phone?” Rika picked up the silver slide phone off of Hiromi’s bed and flicked it open, only to be surprised. “Oh, it’s not mine…it’s hers…she must have the same phone as me…”

Then a lightbulb in Rika’s head lit. Sneakily, she got her phone which was on her bedside table and switched it with Hiromi’s.

[the next day]

Rika looked through Hiromi’s inbox. Hmm, so she apologized huh? Too bad Hiromi doesn’t have her phone to see it. Rika thought evilly. Sticking to her plan, she typed the message into the phone, searched for Aimi’s number in the phone and entered it. Then she sat in wait. At this period of this certain school day, Aimi would always be juggling text books trying to shove them into her tiny bag, in which she would usually hand her things over to Hikaru. One of those things being her phone. And just like clockwork, the events she had anticipated took place.

“And SEND!”

[ end flashback ]

“Oh, and by the way, I don’t need you anymore.” Rika smirked once again. “He’s single, and now it’s time for me to be, so run off Yama-chan.”

As she walked away Yamada stared at the girl wondering what she had done with Rika, with an aching cheek and heart. “Who are you?” He whispered.
