“What happened?...” asked by the man as he approaches his wife at the sink who is now busying herself with things that are already cleaned up. “Why Daiki is now sleeping at the couch while his brother is in their room locking it up all day?...” he added then as soon as he notices her about to look at him in a second.

She would like to answer it honestly but what come next are tears of pain that could only mean one thing. “I’m sorry…” she threw herself at her husband and he embraces her right away. He knew exactly what this is and she’s aware that he already understands but they can’t keep on living like this forever. They need to talk. “I can’t get over it…”

“Is this about Daiki again?...” he asked with voice almost like whispering into her ears.

“Yes…” she nodded and he pulled her closer to his chest. “I don’t want him to see that I don’t love him but I just can’t forget how he killed our third son and how he almost killed Ryosuke as well…”

“Sssshhh…” he hissed, warning her to lower it down because Daiki is just out there, sleeping while still weeping on the couch. “It wasn’t his fault hon…” he made clear since Daiki was just a fetus at that time when everything happens. And for God sake the boy can’t be blamed about it. If there’s one thing to be blamed about then it’s all fate. However, she was in great trauma at that time and being not in her usual self, she keeps on blaming everything to Daiki. The boy actually did nothing wrong. It was just all because of his umbilical cord. Even Doctors can’t explain why it happens but for her it was Daiki’s fault. If Daiki was never in her womb, then the third son she was expecting so much to be born alive is now living happily with them together with Ryosuke. “Hon…” he grabbed her to look straight at him and to fully understand their situation. They can’t live like this forever. Daiki is already affected so much. If they will keep on doing this, Daiki might disappear from their life as well. “You should move on already…”

“You don’t know how I feel…” she pointed at her chest, showing him how excruciating it is to live like this everyday. “He killed my son and he pushed Ryosuke on the pool when they were 3. How can I move on from that?...”

“Try to understand…” he pleaded. “He was so young when it all happens. He wasn’t fully responsible of what he did. He knows nothing at all that pushing Ryosuke on the pool could kill and it wasn’t his plan as well to coil his umbilical cord around our third son’s neck…”

“But because of him everything happened…” she’s about to raise her voice when she sensed that someone is coming from the living room. She detached herself from her husband right away to wipe her tears and to turn away. She knew who’s coming since she knew exactly who could walk in a sound like that.

“I’m sorry, did I disturb you two?...” Daiki asked with eyes and nose still swelling from crying.

“No, not at all…” he replied as he looked away to seek for something he could use as an excuse. “Oh God, I’m still hungry…” he acted out craving for something as he walks on the fridge to check for something he could grab.

“Mom… Dad…” Daiki asked for attention all of a sudden in a sound like begging for their pity to just give him ears if they can’t even look at him straight. “I’m so sorry if I’m this incompetent and useless…” he fidgeted as he let out what he thinks of himself which could be the reasons why he can’t be love by anybody. “And I’m sorry if I keep on competing with my brother…” he reached out his hand this time to touch even just the sleeve of his mother but when she senses it, she eluded it right away, giving Daiki no more choice but to retract it instantly. “I’m sorry for the yell I did Mom. I know I have no right to question your love since mothers do love their children no matter what but am I really loved in this family? Did you and Dad ever loved me even just once?...” he asked with eyes now about to tear up any moment. “If being dumb and ugly is not acceptable and being smart and tidy is still not acceptable… what should I do for you to love me? I just wanted to be notice even just once. I just wanted to be praise even by just the two of you. Tell me Mom… What can I do for you to call me sweety even once?...”

“Are you jealous of your brother Daiki?...” asked by his father.

“I will never be jealous about him if you two won’t make me see it that way…”

“So what do you want?...” she turned herself to face her son and Daiki flinches in fear as he saw how angry she looks once again. “Treat you like a baby?...” she asked in a sound like an insult.

“Hon!...” he forewarned her right away to stop and if possible to just ignore Daiki as of now. “Daiki. Go to your room…” he instructed then with his forefinger pointing at the second floor of the house.

“I don’t have any room Dad…” he replied with tears now pouring achingly down his cheeks. “I never had a room in this house because I always feel like I don’t belong in this family…” he ran off then outside the house to cry and to search for the only place that could comfort him… yes, the flower shop.

“Daiki!...” Kei got shocked right away seeing Daiki running and crying toward him and eventually hugging him without a word. “Did you and Yuya argue?...” he asked, suspecting his cousin who is the only person right now he could think of doing this to the boy.

“No…” he shook his head as he grab on Kei’s shirt to transfer all of his hate on it. He clenches on it as if he wanted to tear the cloth piece by piece. Thank god, Kei understands him so he was granted on whatever he wanted to happen. “They’re terrible!...” he cried out. “How could they do this to me?...”

“Who?...” Kei asked with concern.

“My parents…” he looked up for Kei to see how lonely he is, how angry he is, how desperate he is and how long he’d been enduring this kind of mixed feelings at the same time. “Why not just tell me if I’m adopted or what? Why do they have to make me suffer like this?...”

“You’re adopted?...” Kei was surprised hearing the word himself not knowing what Daiki is trying to tell him.

“I don’t know…” he shook his head vigorously this time and then he kneeled down to cry on the floor. “But being ignored and being unloved everyday… it feels worst than being adopted…”

Kei kneeled down to pat a hand at Daiki’s shoulder and when the boy looked up, he sympathetically give his utmost caring look for Daiki to feel that he’s here to listen and to comfort. “Tell me. I’m here to listen…”

“Mom always hates me and Dad always ignores me. I don’t really know why but they keep on giving me those dreadful glares as if they are always angry about me. I did nothing wrong. I’m always doing my best not to make a mistake. I’m always listening as well. I’m even washing the dishes, cleaning the house, sweeping the garden, watering the plants, cooking meals and even doing some laundry sometimes. I’m not even eating lunch sometimes just to save my money for Dad not to worry anymore for my allowance but why am I always wrong? Why am I always stupid? Why am always dumb? I did everything to top to class to have Mom’s appreciation at last but why in the end I was scolded instead? Am I born just to be hurt like this everyday? Why God even created me?...”

“Don’t blame Him…” Kei pulled the boy to have its head on his shoulder. He soothed it then with his fingers brushing Daiki’s locks in between them. “Don’t you ever think that you were born to be unhappy forever… God has plans for you. He must have his reasons why everything like this is happening right now…”

“I can’t see it that way…” he argued. “I can’t even feel Him…”

“Don’t lose hope Daiki…” he emphasized. “They will surely love you one day because no parents can live abandoning the fruit of their love somewhere. Surely, there’s a reason to all of this. You should have faith because once you keep on being yourself, they will just give up from being mean to you. They will then realize that they’re wrong…”

“I’ve been hoping for that for a very long time already but until now it’s not happening, even a bit…”

“Then try harder. Try to make them see that you still love them even with all of what they did to you. I’m sure, your parents aren’t that bad to give you those dreadful glares anymore once they’ll see that no matter what and no matter how hard your life is already, you are still that cheerful to love them as their son…”

“Ryosuke, please talk to me…” Yuya chases his ex who keeps on ignoring him as if he’s just an air everytime they’ll see each other at the hallway or at the cafeteria and even they are already sitting across each other at the library. “Can’t you just give me a minute?!...”

“NO!...” he snarled back. “I can’t even give you a second so get lost!...”

“Ok! I’m sorry…” he started talking even Ryosuke isn’t listening again. But at least, the guy did say a word even it was just an angry snarl. It’s a good sign already for him to start talking because he knew Ryosuke will just listen eventually. “I cheated on you. I make you believe that I love. I played on you. And I even dare stab your back by having a secret relationship with Daiki but you know what? I can’t say a word about breaking up with you because I had loved you as well…”

That stopped him at once from acting deaf. The word of the guy had reached his heart which makes him feel like he wanted to throw himself at Yuya straightaway and to kiss the guy with all his heart but doing that is simply like martyrdom. It’s not his style at all. All of the girls and guys in this campus are dying to have him. There were even teachers that are single asking him to go out with them. If he’ll ever throw himself right now at the guy who had fooled him until now, then he can considered himself as the dumbest person on earth, far worst dumber than Daiki. “Stop talking nonsense anymore. I don’t want to hear anything of it anymore…”

“I know you can’t forgive me…” he regretfully said. “But at least forgive your brother…”

“Are you mocking on me?...” he asked, snorting unbelievably to what he just heard. “Me and Daiki? Are you crazy?!...”

“He’s your brother…”

“Not anymore!...”

“He is still your brother…” he put emphasis on it this time, deepening his voice at once. “I know we’ve caused so much pain on you but Daiki is still your brother and he loves you. Even he’s not saying it, I can feel it. He loves you and that what makes me like him. He’s a good guy. A kind hearted person and you’re lucky enough to have him as your brother…”

“You don’t know what you’re talking…” he glared. “Daiki never loved me. He is always jealous about me!...”

“It wasn’t him who is always jealous Ryosuke…” he clarified what Ryosuke had missed knowing for a very long time. “It was you who is always jealous about him…”

“How could I be jealous---”

“You keep on degrading him, making him feel useless and stupid. You keep on grabbing your parent’s attention to make him feel inferior all the time. You keep on insulting him with things that aren’t true and you keep on pushing him away from you as if his a dirt on your ass…”

“Those aren’t jealousy. Those are facts that are---”

“Those are the other side of what jealousy mean Ryosuke. You wanted everything on yourself, leaving Daiki with nothing. In other words, you’re selfish…”

“Then what makes you love me? Why are you telling me a while ago that you had loved me as well?...” he asked.

“I can’t ignore the fact that you and Daiki are the same…” he muttered. “There’s a part of him that I can see in you and I know you aren’t that bad at all…” he walked closer to grab his ex on the shoulder. “Ryosuke…” he said in a begging manner. “Ignore me as much as you want. Hate me now and forever but don’t abandon your brother. I’m the one who is at fault here. I can’t live like this knowing that I ruin your relationship to one another. Please… forgive him and I’ll be at ease with that…” he turned his back then to walk away but a hand had grabbed him back and that stops him from leaving. “What is it?...” he asked.

“Who did you really love among the two of us?...”

He knows this will hurt again but he can’t make false answer anymore. Ryosuke must know. He should end it with one answer and that is, “Daiki…”

Staring at the sky, Daiki could feel the sadness on it, as if they are about to cry for him. The clouds were dark and thick and the wind is now breezing cooler than the morning air. Yes, it’s about to rain and Daiki is on the rooftop of the school building, lying down with eyes asking for it to help him wipe his tears with droplets that can wet him as well from head to toe.

He escaped his class. He doesn’t want to attend any of it anymore. And besides, Ryosuke and Yuya are there. He will just end up stumbling with them and eventually be melted by the stares and gossips of people he doesn’t even know. News in their school spreads fast after all. Even he’ll ignore them; he will still be insulted and backstabbed by people who know nothing but to gossips other people’s life, so better not to mingle with anyone right now and be all alone for a moment.

Just when he thought the rain is about to wet his face, masking the tears that are about to fall down again, someone’s umbrella covered him up with great care. He adjusted his sight to check if who it is and was surprised to see the former academic competitor of his brother lending a hand to grab him up from lying. “Thank you but I wanted to be here and to be left alone…”

“Then I’m not allowing you that…” he grabbed Daiki’s hand himself to pull up the guy himself as well. “Getting yourself soaked like this won’t solve anything…”

“Why do you care?...” he asked curiously since the guy is someone who never talks to someone like him before. He once heard that this guy would only talk to someone smart and dignified like Ryosuke. And everyone will always make a way once this guy will start walking in the middle of the hallway just like how Ryosuke is treated also, once his brother is there to buy a meal, those in the front line will eventually step on their side to give Ryosuke the opportunity to buy first.

“Because I’m concern about you…”

“You should say pity not concern…” he pouted since he understands it now. The guy is here to help him not because his important but because he’s the most pitiful creature on earth who got nothing but zero all the time. “Thank you but I don’t need your concern or your pity… Just let me---” he stopped talking when he noticed something he never expects at all. The guy is halfway soaked already because the umbrella is just all above his head, keeping him away from a single drop of rain. “Are you insane?!...” he pushed the umbrella back to where it should be and the guy pulled him together with it. “What are you doing?...”

“Keeping you safe from any possible flu that this rain could give you later…”

“I’m tough! I don’t easily get sick so let go of me…”

“I’m sorry but I won’t let go of you now…” he seriously eyed Daiki and then he gave his gentlest smile that no one had ever seen before. “If I was just fast enough at that time to give you my umbrella... For sure, you aren’t crying like this right now…”

“What are you talking about?...” Daiki can’t get a thing about this. Why is he being cared like this if all this time this guy seems not to care a thing about him? He can’t even remember a day seeing this guy giving him a one damn look. Then why is this happening now?

“I’m talking about my feelings here. The thing I regretted not telling you about…”

“Are you telling me---”

“I like you Daiki. I like you even since the day I saw you tailing your brother while entering preschool. I had always like you that I’ve been following you everywhere. I even contradicted my parents of getting myself enrolled to the school they wanted for me because I wanted to see you everyday. I’ve always dreamed talking to you like this and now it’s happening...” he pulled Daiki to rest on his chest and then he embraced his warmth with face too happy that finally this is real, Daiki is now with him and they are even sharing they’re warmth at one another. “I love you Daiki. I love you more than what Yuya can give you…”
