Your lessons bring me so much happiness.
Sometimes, when I feel the world will never listen,
I go to you and feel the whole world is all ears.
I know you may find loopholes in what I believe in
Though I am glad that through perhaps protesting to those
loopholes
You find inspiration to write, to express
If it brings you burden now, perhaps tomorrow it will not
If it makes you pensive now, may you be enlightened tomorrow
If it brings you bad feelings now, I pray you learn something from
those feelings
You have done the same to me, and each time,
I've learned to appreciate things even more than for what they are,
but also for what they mean
You've taught me that someone may read
but refuse or fail to understand
Slowly but surely you take out my sense of bigotry
And make me understand that I am not alone
I notice you are one of those great teachers,
who put their lives in the line in order to open minds,
in order to stop bigots from creating more bigots.
You teach us how to love, appreciate, be compassionate,
Not only to our fellow Filipinos but also to everyone
who lives on planet Earth.
You are, by far, the best teacher I've ever encountered
And you will forever be.
It brings me much enlightenment to have known this side of you.
I wish that somehow, we will not be restricted by the student-
teacher relationship,
I wish to know you as a friend, as a kindred spirit,
as a human who, like me, searches for understanding.
Thank you, Sir.
