summary: four seasons are enough to love someone

Donghyun sees Minwoo for the first time in spring. He's playing soccer with some friends in the park -are those twins?- and one of them -the dumb one- kisses the ground with his own face -ouch-. Minwoo laughs and Dongwoo cringes mentally because it's so bright and pure and magical and funny and cute that he has to look away for a moment. When his eyes travel back to the younger's face, he's not laughing anymore. He smiles and Donghuyn smiles back. Minwoo's smile is so out of this world that Donghyun wonders if he ate stars for breakfast.

Minwoo sees Donghyun for the second time in summer. He's sitting on the cool sand and the sun is slowly fading away, creating a beautiful shade of pink in the sky and on the older's soft features. There's a small book in his hands and the wind runs playfully through his silver hair like it's made of stardust. Minwoo holds his breath and musters up his courage. He sits next to him and fixes his gaze on the horizon right in front of them. When he feels Donghhyun's eyes on himself, though, he loses the battle and turns his face towards him. He blames the sunlight, then the soft breeze, then the summer heat, and then he thinks that maybe he has just found the most amazing pair of eyes he's ever seen.

Minwoo asks Donghyun out in autumn. They meet near the river on a cloudy saturday morning. The leaves are falling down and the water becomes grey, but Minwoo feels like it's spring again. When he sees Donghuyn walking slowly towards him, he doesn't wait. Please go out with me. Then the blond looks at him like he's his moon and stars, but when he moves his lips Minwoo doesn't feel like it's spring anymore. I'm too old for you. He feels like winter has just caught him in a death grip. They say goodbye to each other just in time before a storm hits the city; Donghyun turns off the television when he hears a soft knock on the front door of his apartment. He takes off his glasses and when he opens it, he can't understand if Minwoo's face is wet because of the rain or because of his tears. He lets him in anyways.

Donghyun gives Minwoo a letter in winter. The younger opens it like it's his death sentence, then sighs softly when he finds out that it's a poem.

"I loved you in spring

when you were running careless

with blood on your knees

and stars in your mouth

I loved you in summer

with the sunset reflected in your eyes

and air filled with empty promises

I loved you in autumn

even when I broke your young heart

and when you fixed mine

I'll love you in winter

and I will do it right

because how can the moon live

without its stars?"

Minwoo writes back and writes with his heart (and his lack of creativity but Donghyun doesn't care much).

"Roses are red

violets are blue

is that a confession

because I don' understand"

Minwoo does understand when Donghyun whispers a soft 'yes' against his lips the next day over two steaming cups of hot cocoa  and marshmallows.
