It always irritates me when someone, here or elsewhere, makes a post about some problem like depression or school trouble or family issues or how the person they like asked someone else out and someone comments "lol first world problems." Seriously, shut your yap. I can see commenting like that on a post that was, say, angsting about breaking a nail or something, but a lot of the time these are legit things that bother the people who post them. The measure of a problem is in how much it affects the person affected, not how sarcastically demeaning some jerk anon feels like being about it. And besides that, just because someone lives in the "first world" doesn't mean that none of their problems matter. Just because someone down the street has a compound fracture of the thighbone doesn't mean my sprained ankle doesn't hurt. Yes, it would be stupid to equate the two, but the mere fact that someone, somewhere, is suffering more than that poster doesn't mean that poster is not suffering at all.
