Grass and bushes go by as I run across this field. I glance around, keeping an eye on the lizardmen around me, but they only idly watch me pass them. I slow down and check my map. I am close to Kalibran's location. I look up at the hill before me, searching for the dragon... there. Now to find a way up that hill...
I approach Kalibran. She hovers, great wings beating rhythmically. Her eyes cry dry tears as she thrusts her head left and right in sorrow. I step closer through the gusts of wind she is creating. She notices me.
"Oh, my children, my children!" she laments, "My eggs have been stolen!"
I utter comforting words, feeling they are flecks of dust to the dragon's heavy sadness. Then, as a slight sense of guilt prods at the back of my mind, I offer to help get her eggs back.
"Oh, will you really?" Kalibran curls her neck and lowers her head, looking at my face. I gaze back into her beautiful green eye.
Yes, I tell her. However...
The dragon slowly blinks. "I see.. Two legged-creatures of your kind must always have a reward for what you do! Alright! Even if I have to raid the castles, I will pay you a fortune! Just please bring my eggs back...!"
I nod.
Kalibran points to the ground behind me. "Take that scale of mine. It will help you identify my eggs. They have been taken by the savage road scavengers, who roam the lands around that which you two-legged creatures call Death Pass! I would kill them all myself if it were not for their threats to crush my unborn children! Please, please bring them back safely!"
I assure her with some last kind words, and take the smooth scale. It is like a piece of metal, beautiful and polished and shimmering in the sun. With one last look at the sorrowful dragon, I head to Death Pass.
